Having been called most things under the sun id say "Shortlegs you can call me anything you want to ?"
If Ground operators are not careful they alone will kill our sport.
I have noticed a trend to increase prices " because clays have gone up" but at the same time lower the quality of target presentations . Sloppy target setting with no thoughts for short people or left handers .
If it is dear to enter and you cannot see the targets or swing the gun after them , you won't bother to go there again. :???:

I can relate to the short person thing. On Sunday I had to shoot a fast low crosser right to left and the bar was up to my chest. I literally had to raise myself onto tiptoe on one foot and balance myself with the other to get my gun down and free from rubbing against the bar. I managed three out of the four but it is no fun teetering like that. I now tell course setters when it is unfair.

I too have had a moan about this on several occasions, I really don't mind being beaten by the target but I get really angry and stressed when I get beaten by a target I cannot see because I'm not tall enough or I have to stand awkwardly because of the size of the cage. I recommend that all course setters take a stick that is roughly 4'11" (my height .) and on each stand crouch down to that level and see what they see. I've seen more "youngsters" st Southdown lately and I'm sure they struggle to see over the bushes etc but not only there, other places too.

Ian Coleys today, which was pretty tricky on most stands. Nothing was easy, with only two or three fairly straightforward. I was pleased with 90 as it was a rare occasion for me with no silly misses, just a lack of talent (and one battue that could have been judged a no bird by a kinder ref). A couple of 93s leading when I left. Still some good shooters to shoot, but I would be surprised if 93 is beaten by much, if at all..

Coleys today also, pretty tricky? Well as youd imagine if a AA shot thought that, us at the C class steerage level did find it a real challenge ?Me, id bought new gun yesterday and its fixed 5/8 & 7/8 chokes might take me a long long time in getting used too, that said I felt I made too many basic errors that I probably would still have made with my MK, ended on 57, in past that was glass half empty score, ill park it and move on.
in squad Joe Hale, Stew Keen & Pete Houghton all 80+, very well shot guys, old Willy Hale 77 and Miss Internet Blogger Zea 63, do keep eyes peeled for Zeas bloggs quite a breath of fresh air ?

Went to Southdown today an walked up and down the sporting lane and shot really well, missed very few overall and felt really good.
I then had a round of Compak and in comparision I was not nearly as good, probably hit only half of them. That left me bewildered and a tad frustrated. Can't blame the gun so it must be a head thing I think. Any adeas?

Westfield for Fitasc today. yes I know I continue to punish myself. We shot 50 short break 50 but I still waivered in the concentration department. Shot 2 passable scores and two crappy ones. I thought it had some fairly tricky birds. Lovely squad and shot with Wylye for the first time which was a pleasure. Pretty windy today but the rain held off.

Gunsite, 200+ entries so as youd imagine a lot of waiting around, the three of us hopped around stand wise, still took 3+ hours, started and finished with a straight did though make far too many brain fart errors elsewhere ? as its only second time out with new gun pleased enough with 69 in C, brother Billy Bunter 82 in A and Stew Keen 84 in AA

Glad I went to Horne then. Was busy but not as busy as Gunsite sounds. 2hrs to get around and most of that was the last 3 stands up the top.
A bit of a sloppy round bit was happy to straight the platform for the first time. Found the looper on stand 6 tough as at first tried to hit it before it went behind the branches and then took it after and got it both times. Ended up on 81 so happy enough with that.

Had guests staying for the weekend so couldn't go far. They decided they wanted a walk along the beach at Pevensey, so we snuck off for a quick 70 bird round a nearby Mill Farm. Beat the OH 58 to 56 and no problems at all today with not pulling the trigger properly. I shall put the problem down to too much shooting in that week (950 clays at 6 different grounds).

You will be catching Sian up at that rate. Seriously though at that amount unless you are shooting lower recoil cartridges you will start to feel it and become more tense when it comes to pulling the trigger.

Flipping eck, how many?? I'm lucky to be able to shoot 3-400 per month, and that's a good month, sometimes only 2-300. No wonder I'm crap! ?

Had a weeks holiday in Norfolk, so I drove up early on the Saturday and did the Sporting Challenge at Highwaymans (150), Sunday was 100 at Chalk Farm, High Lodge Monday and Tuesday (100 each day), Eriswell Lodge Wednesday (100), Mid Norfolk Shooting Ground Thursday (100), drove across to AGL on the Friday for the Registered shoot (100), Saturday locally at Willow Farm (70 bird sporting and 25 bird compak) and Sunday a local 50 bird shoot. Eight grounds, although it was only 6 that I don't go to regularly.
Definitely not a normal week, which would consist of 200 or less in a week (shot on a Saturday and Sunday).
