Had a lovely day out at Southdown, pool shoot first followed by  Compak.  Note to self, watch the squad in front because they don’t show you the targets 😂. Second layout therefore took me by surprise.  Finished on 90/100.  Joint first in Ladies and Greater London Lady.  Stopped for a bite  to eat and then onto Sporting.  Lost 9 targets on two stands of 4 pairs!  one orange quartering from left just found so difficult to keep on and missed all four.  Enjoyed it finished on 76/100.

I've only picked the gun up 3 times since mid July I think so Sunday was always going to be an interesting day!

Was lucky enough to make up the numbers in our Counties B team for the West Midlands region Inter-Counties held at Kingsley Moor. It was my first time up there and it really was a lovely ground, they've got some serious terrain to play with! The team had put a lot of work in from custom branding and signage through to a free catering tend half way round. Something you don't even see at the majors...

The two things that let the shoot down (and it feels maybe like in-experienced setters) was that no stand was labelled to show what the targets were. I think only 3 of the 14 stands were on report!

Tricky course and considering the level of shooters (county representatives) the HG was Julian Morris on 91 and I think that might have been the only score in the 90's?

Hepworth Hall yesterday for the Ambassador super sporting 120 some of the simo pairs were a bit tricky then 120 auto shoot keep forgetting full use on pairs!.Great targets shame it took so long to do the first 120 made up for by the auto shoot taking just over an hour and being a great laugh.Sim triples are the way to go

We shot that yesterday too but took forever as it was busy.  I love Dysons targets and yeah, the sim pairs were tricky!  Wished I’d done the semi auto now.

I really find it fun, forgetting the 3rd target then mounting as its about a foot of the floor and still hitting it.Forgetting you have a 3rd cartridge in and doing similar. And pulling of seemingly impossible sim trios...wish there were more of them down this way

Me too, love doing something different now and again.  Amazing what you can hit when you don’t think you’ve got a chance!!  Do that sometimes on sport trap, wait for completely the wrong target, someone’s shouts and you mount and hit it!  We don’t always believe in our own ability

if only we could harness the reaction shooting...we could all be world champs!

Been a busy boy work for weeks & this contract will be done in few hours from now, then the home jaunt via Coleys for the last of the summer shoots, generally the weather has been good, in years gone by shoot has suffered some poor days weather wise. Few years ago entry around 30/40 now near sold out every event, am thankful they persisted after those early lean years. Might well see a few of you there

You will indeed. I'll be there to shake Foley's hand and help him carry his winnings out to his car 😂

Another nice course at Coleys today, shame it’s the last of the year.

Frustration city for me again, 84, I just can’t put a high score in lately. I shot some stuff well, but was overleading some simple targets. I did manage to hit three orange crossers on stand 2 which was a rarity it seems. I was first up on the sim trap target stand and shot them the wrong way round, so dropped three where most others straighted it with one shot killing the pair often. Ho Hum..

I shall try a different cap tomorrow..

Coleys, despite the pleasant weather, very good company and on the whole a friendly course one was not at all “with it” was first up on a stand where first target was a l-r rabbit a real bogey as are incomers which I later managed to look all impossible to hit, Ive rarely felt that Id shot a course as poorly as one did today, its a 😖 I could do without, shooting apart it was good to see so many friendly faces, next March seems a long way off for the next one here.

Yesterday saw the end to a very pleasant summer series at Ian Coley. Really great fun to shoot and a great format to encourage competition even in the lower classes. After winning my class overall last year I sadly came close (handful of clays) but couldn't make it stick this year.

Most of my scores were in the 80's this series and I am under no illusion that it was due to shooting with such a talented squad. It really does lift ones own game when you see how the clays really can be hit.

After a drought of shooting I've getting back in to it.

Sunday - County All Round at SW2000 then County Skeet Doubles at Gloucester

Following weekend I'm in Spain shooting game

No, seriously, anybody got any golf clubs going cheaply? Another poor performance for me at EJC today. Same story, shot some well and fell over too many times otherwise. I’m paying good money to feel dejected all the time lately. Ho hum. It will come back to me hopefully..

Well shot Hamid!

Churchill's looked its usual fairly busy self given this is a mid week reg, I shot well with good timing on the harder targets and seemed to just click and give the right lead to stuff, a tiny bit disappointed to miss two second birds on the not so inspiring fast away pair 😶  stand; I tend to think of these as not so much a test of skill but a combination of recoil management, reactions and luck of the draw, apart from that I really think they deserve credit for presenting what I consider to be bang on level of difficulty whilst testing lead and footwork without the element of deliberate robbin' creeping in. Highest score as I left at 2.00 o'clock was Mr. Poulter on 95 so quite happy with 91.  :)

I know that score is well below your actual ability, I have had them as has everyone else, the next shoot can all turn around. That's what I have been saying for 34 years.

EJC also, happy gang of four Glos boys & a lass, went st1-4 leapfrogged big q at St5 St6-12 returned to St5 after finding a ref. EJC does indeed look very smart these days, the staff seem a lot happier too, my last few visits (early 2018) they looked a bit jaded almost un interested. Overall enjoyed my day out, bar a couple of stands one shot better, no much better than of late, helped Im sure by the company, ended on a welcome 71, WillyH 74, ZeaP 76 👏, SeanF 77 & JoeH 91 we all had more 😊 than 🙁 today, all told a grand day out

An enjoyable day for me also at EJC in good company even though I have the worst cold I have had in years.  Not too shabby, driven was my worst stand missing 3.  Started down on the Skeet range.  83 for me.

Ah the trap very close to cage going aways, Coleys had two similar stands yesterday also, it ruins a C class shooters card so interesting to see a AA has 😐 reactions to such presentations

Went to Owls for their Saturday reg.   funny how you forget how irritating shooting in the rain is.  A good shoot which I didn’t  shoot particularly well and on my own, I prefer company.  Still got my horrid cold but still rather be out than in.
