Fair one,  but personally I don't see the bead/muzzle end at all as It's always lined up & tracking wherever my eyes are and to me that's then where my gun will shoot so it disappears to me: I believe I'm looking at the clay at all points and then move away for the shot with it then in my peripheral for that inch or so so I know where I want the shot to go (if that makes sense), but get where you're coming from. My problem with the analogy of the three foot stick varying depending on how far away you are is that I struggle with gauging distance between me and the clay when it gets over a certain distance so the stick then varies hugely. Might be that my way is just easier for me to see if someone were to say 'give if another inch'. I presume you mean that for you at 10 yards it's three foot, but at 40 yards you adjust so that stick becomes, say, 2.5 yards?

Bloke in my shooting lot said he'd read apparently it's how more women see it than men (no jokes about inches intended!) as it's a spacial thing. I guess whatever works.

As long as there's a universal way of describing it then that's fine, but I think that's where the problem lay more often than not as most of the time you hear people saying 'you want to add another foot to your lead' or whatever, but if you can't judge a foot/metre/mile that well then it's useless information to you. Someone on here posted that they were instructed with just four terms: Hit it, hit the edge, bit in front, and loads in front. Seems easier to think of that way as you're not visualising distance, just rough approximation.

It's been a busy festive period but with not a lot of shooting! Last outing was Westfield for their extreme, unregistered, shoot.

Struggled to get in to the shoot, not the targets fault but just me. Really showed with the scores, I have only ever shot one other worse score, and that was one of my first ever registered shoots at the same ground on 13/12/15! I ended on 47/100 🤐

Merry Christmas 😅

Owls Lodge Xmas reg today. Last year was very busy so this year they advertised it much harder and created gridlock. Something over 300 entries I think. They anticipated it somewhat with 13 stands and lots of sim pairs (so the shoot wasn’t great) but after 3.5 hours I still had three stands to go; each with 20 plus shooters waiting. Nah.. so 67/76 for me.. Even the bacon sandwich I ordered half way round couldn’t fix the day.

Next year they need to take limited pre bookings like AGL do for the Express Masters I reckon.

I had a lie in after a late night. Drove down for 11 saw the state of the car park overspilling to the road along with the mass queue on stand 1, turned around and drove straight home. Got home and thought maybe I was a little hasty but sounds like I made the right call.

I’m still here with one stand to go after starting at 1.30! There’s a group here of probably 12 who I’ve managed to get stuck behind each and every time. It’s almost dark, it’s cold, and I’m hungry! Should have stayed at home with a turkey sandwich :)

Owls Lodge started on stand 4 at 10am and finished at 11.30am .....a massively long time as we are usually finished by 11am on a normal registered.

New it would be busy but the usual plan worked.

i have discovered that Black clays rolling through puddles of mud with sun reflecting off both requires guesswork as they are impossible to see also the one rolling down the bank seemed disappear just out of the trap and reappear at the top of the bank.

Didn't like the going away pair under your level off the stand, creamed the first pair and then struggled.

Apart from that not to bad, little on the chilly side out of the sun.

Right I’m done!

Shoot #4 ticked off with a 71.

Im happy with that, very different test for me today mentally with all the waiting around etc.

Have arranged some tuition for the New Year so very much looking forward to that too and progressing.

Tempted to shoot again tomorrow...

Owls for us too.  Arrived and out just after 10am and finished about 2.15pm.  There were some queues along the way but unfortunately we got stuck on our last but one stand, stand 1 which had a breakdown so waited nearly an hour to fix and our turn.  Thank god a straight!  It was a long day but the weather was great and I just took the time to socialise more than I usually get time too do and I scored the most delicious apple puff from Fred the ref.  Once he shot that stand Tony went as fast as his crippled back would allow back to Pam to beg for the last fried breakfast of the day at 1.59pm and I am glad she took pity because he was so hungry we may well have seen a grown man cry.  I enjoyed the shoot and I was pleased to stay somewhat focused and timing for my sims wasn’t bad.  The only irritation which I caused myself was missing three orange right to left on the Skeet range.  Just stupid.  Anyhow ended on 84/100.

Owls also, met with Glos chum Sean Foley, we started at around 11, done at 3.15, saw lots and lots and lots of chums good job really as fair amount of chinwag time, now Im one who struggles with l-r targets, simos & l-r bunnies in paticular so today could have been a real car crash card. Did though have a very big 😊 after all of the bunnies, a simo pair of teal and a simo pair of coloured rocket trap targets, the flip side was being all at sea on a simo l-r bin lids then simply running out of steam on last three stands. Weather was spot on for end December, have had it cold n wet at Owls which can be unpleasant.

All in all a good day out

Owls with 4 friends from Kent and most stands involved a lot of waiting, one or two breakdowns along the way so took 4+ hours to complete, I'm not complaining though as I really enjoyed the huge variety and didn't suffer the simmo fest too much 😊  You had to be really focused on your tempo and tackling the first bird(s) without rushing was a must, really really happy with my 95 which was joint 1st as we were leaving at 2.45, that 99 from Mighty Myers was rude. 😝 😎

Owls too for us.  Left home at 8.45, started shooting just after 11, finished shooting at 3.30!   Had a quick coffee then drove home and got home at 6.15

After not shooting for almost 8 weeks I felt rusty and must admit didn’t enjoy the shoot.  Was great to catch up and have a chat though so not all bad.

Well done!!

You’ve got Westfield on tomorrow, would be worth a visit for sure 👍

Bloody hell, contemplated owls last week but childcare, whole family ill, and wife coming off nights it was a no brainer to sack it off but glad I did by the sound of it!
Im the opposite, yes aware circumstances dictated you could not attend, but one always views these christmas holiday period shoots to be very very busy, the weather forecast was always very good too, so it was always for me, even being only an hour away going to be an “all day event” as it was one saw lots of chums, chewed some fat, shot well / badly / well and all in all a good and very long day out, glad I went, try to make my days out clay shooting enjoyable, this one ticked that box.

Goodo, love someone who enjoys their work. 😊 I can't afford too many shoots so I have to cherry pick a little, always gonna be just a fun hobby for me but that does take off any pressure to be a top shot! 😀
