Tapered Ribs

I always wanted a tapered rib on a gun exactly because of the effect you described. I have shot a few, and found it to be advantageous over the parallel rib.

Just recently, I've shot a 32" barrelled gun with a parallel rib, but with a central groove down it, which leads the eye beautifully (I normally shoot a 30" with parallel rib with no central groove). The 32" also has a smaller white bead on the end, which is giving me the feeling of a very long, and precisely pointable barrel. I'm finding the perceived lead I give can be cut back dramatically, and I'm tending to shoot in front until I get used to it. This is making longer targets much easier to judge for me, which are something I have struggled with in the past. Provided I can still shoot the close stuff as well as before, and so far it has been no handicap, I'm convinced I will pick up more targets that I wouldn't normally expect to hit.

Good result all round mostly because of the rib and barrel length. Oh! And the change from Beretta to Miroku. If the rib tapered too, it would be just about perfect though!
About time you saw the light and came over from the dark side

From the Dark Side? To the Dark Side? I'm never sure which way I've travelled.

At least I haven't turned to Trap Shooting, although I can feel the heritage in this MK38 so if I did fancy a dabble it might not be such a disaster??

I just slapped myself round the face then and pulled myself together!!!

It's like shooting easy peasey going away birds in sporting. Only they dress funny.
It's those "easy" going straight away ones I struggle with believe it or not. Loopers, love them. Rabbits, easy as rabbit pie. Crossers, bread and butter. Quartering, nothing but dust. Driven, a certainty, but those pesky "simple" ones drive me mad!!!   :spiteful:

You know you want to :)
I do, you are correct, but self humiliation is not my thing. I need private practice to get past some Demons until I crack the problem. Maybe? Just maybe???

Soft lad.

I went sporting with no practice and no idea. Twas only advice from phil that ensured I only looked an arse rather than a complete arse ;)

Too modest young man.

What is the difference between Cider and Cyder.

Are you suggesting for one minute Ian may attend the shootclay cup this year ????
I have heard that one condition would be carpet laid on all the walk ways so he could wear his best carpet slippers, you know, like the ones Les53 wears?  :sarcastic:
