Hello everyone,

incase the name dont give it away im Northampton shooting ground (sywell range or Roy), we are always looking for imput and feed back or just new ideas if you have a target in mind youve not seen somewhere let us know or even somthing you have seen somwhere but would like me to try and replicate so you can practice it.

im always trying to think of new things for sportings like the 'Lemming' the Rabbit the jumps off the side of a high bank or the 'White Tern' a white clay powered down from the side of a bank into the water instead of floating down.

we do 13 stands on our hundred Reg sportings (1st sunday of the month) and always change the course from one shoot to the next so ideas are always welcome.

Welcome aboard Roy - hope you enjoy ShootClay - any questions, please let me know.

Just approved your first batch of events for the calendar - all is working well!

Being as you like down hill Rabbits, how about a Poachers Stand!

A rolled down hill Rabbit down a wooden shoot, chased by a ferret ( mini or midi ) dependant on distance.

Oakedge did a quartering away fast Rabbit last Sunday starting off behind a tree 4 yards in front of the cage quartering away, place to shoot it was ten yards out but most people missed it 15 - 30 yards out.

How about a pair of rabbits on report, first from behind, quartering right to left, then one from the left from 30-40 yds quartering back to the right....

Arnie Palmer set a stand similar to that at the Classic a few years ago, it was an absolute stinker! A simple looking stand that caught a lot of people out.

Welcome aboard Roy - Alex Cobb did a lemming stand at Woodland pursuits. Rabbit appeared out of the woods right to left onto a narrow path next to the lake, then hit a ramp and went airborne before "plopping" into the water. Great fun....

Hodnet had/has a great rabbit pair

One running down a path quartering towards you the other crossing on a built up path right to left.

As a pair.

The most unusual I've shot was I think at a Beretta owner's shoot at Wylye Vally some years ago; a clay was fired at what looked like a kiddies trampoline which the deflected the clay off at an acute angle!

thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

1/4ing rabbits are always a good addition to a shoot, people dont think how much tougher a Rabbit clay is so when its edge on they take some braking normaly a good idea to choke up.

plus i dont have a thing about long distance rabbits recently.

ps yes membership runs out the end of the month.

Hi Northampton,

Good to have you on here, hope you have a fantastic (and busy) shooting season :)

Cheers
