Shot Cartridges today near Plymouth. Fantastic start and my confidence was so high. But then it all went horrible...
7/7/7/8/9/8/0/2/3/3

What the heck happens when it turns like that ?

So depressed now

Can't say without seeing the course, but likely the 0 (which can just happen if its a pair you don't get) then leaves your head in a mess. I had a crap shoot a few weeks back, because stand 1 kicked my butt (for no good reason). Then you are pissed off and lacking confidence for the next stands..

These things happen. Don't waste the next week dwelling on it..

Hi Wez

You can't assume that you should have shot the last stands as well as the first.  They may have been harder but clearly the 0 may have knocked your confidence.

The 0 was a going away teal about 40yds away followed by an edge on quartering looper even further out. I had no idea what to do to hit them ! I was so frustrated. What can you do when you just don't know ?

Dave Dingle sets some of the most deceptive targets I have ever shot. And he does not put on a shoot to boost your averages!

Don't be disheartened, just accept that he beat you........this time! Make sure you get the better of him next time.

One word of advice, watch the targets from as many places as you can before going on to shoot. Sometimes you will see a curl or a dip that you don't see from the shooting position. The nature of the land can give optical illusions there.

Best of luck next time.

Robert, it's near Tideford, just the other side of Saltash on the A30. Called Cartridge Shooting ground.

See http://www.cart-ridge.co.uk/

One for you and I in the new year possibly unless you get there before. Well worth a visit. Reasonable gunshop on site, great burgers and plenty of cartridges at good prices. And particularly devious targets!!!!

Not saying that's where you missed these but if I had a £1 for every such Teal that was missed over the top due to too much movement and £1.50 for every such looper that was missed well in front because of the wrong assumption it  needs three feet   I could buy a custom Longthorne, easy.

Will got it in first again, a bad stand can play havoc with your momentum. The other thing (though unlikely here) is that of mental fatigue as well as general tiredness towards the end of a round which can cause your shoulders to drop a bit and generally affect your sharpness.

Mac Ladd gets the vote from me. And yes you need to build a system to at least give you options when you are faced with a bird you don't know how to shoot.

IMO Its prob down to a mix of reading the targets wrong and a poor technique, if I have a bad stand caused by either of these  I usually hang around and watch other shooters to see how they approach them and if poss ask kindly how they read the ones I missed most decent guys will be happy to give you their prospective.

For me it's blood sugar. I get to a certain point past when I should have eaten and I can't hit anything. My reactions are slower, my perception of things is different, there is just a gap between what I think is happening and what is actually happening.
