Just a quick note to welcome you to this new sub-forum. You will only be able to see this area of the forum if you are a ground owner, we add you to a special group in the forum software which means that you have access to some specific features across ShootClay.

The only change you or anyone will see is that your user name changes to green in the list at the bottom of the page and the title 'Ground Owner' underneath your avatar.

The first thing the Ground Owner group is enabled for is the ability to add and manage your own events on the calendar. We're really looking forward to growing this side of ShootClay, for a long time only a few select magazines and the CPSA have been able to post the current fixtures - for one month ahead. We want to change the game, and let you post your ads directly onto the net for free. You can include the key details and add anything else (even the artwork that you pay the magazines to include) into the calendar directly. For Free.

By 'free', ShootClay means exactly that - my commitment is that ShootClay will not charge for fixture listing, ever. We make take advertising on the site in the future - if we can do it appropriately and without spoiling the look and feel of the site - and we'll use that money to fund the site. So 'free' means free!

Note - we are taking advertising on the site now - please contact me if you want your shooting ground or event in front of 175,000 page views a month - [email protected]

The win-win here is that you get to advertise in this important shop window, and we get to attract your customers to the site to be part of the fastest growing Clay Shooting site around.

Just in case you have any doubt as to why it's worth investing the few minutes to add your events - ShootClay had just over 100,000 page views in February 2012 and is currently on course to hit 120,000 page views for March 2012 - the growth is amazing us, so clearly there is a market for a decent website with a good forum and comprehensive features to back it up.

The unique thing that ShootClay adds to the calendar are the social networking features - members can say they are coming, arrange meetups and pull more people to your events - you can back this up with whatever promotion you like - a discount for ShootClay Members? Or setting up special events for ShootClay?

We'll be adding more features over time - including a brand new shooting directory which will allow you to submit pictures and read reviews - being able to identify the Ground Owners will help us share these features with you early and directly.

Great idea Matt for us to have our own section.

If grounds can share ideas, especially when it comes to attracting new shooters, then it will be good for all concerned and the future of our sport.

We are currently working closely with the Notts CPSA Committee, and in conjunction with the County we offer have a go days. 150 new shooters in the area tried out the sport for the first time last year - even if they do not take it up that is 150 more people in our area who understand that it is professional and fun sport and that guns are not always a bad thing. We will run another 2 of these events this year.

Also with the Notts Committee we plan to introduce club pro/am competitions this year to help our new shooters take the step from practice into competition. I will keep you posted as to how it goes. The pros will coach the amateurs on their shooting but also on competition etiquette and standards.

If any other grounds have any success or good ideas I would love to hear them and I will continue sharing anything that we do

Wishing all of our fellow grounds a happy, successful and busy shooting season :)
