Well that was busy! Nearly three hours to get round in a squad of 4, proving the popularity I guess.

It was another good set up, perhaps not the easiest ever, but zero complaints from me. A higher contingent of faster rangey targets today, which were great but caught me out at first as I am adjusting to sight picture with prescription lenses. (It all looks a bit bigger and clearer, making me miss behind). I need to re calibrate somewhat. I was 'adding 20%' in the end and doing fine. Only missed one on the pond stand.

My worst stand was stand 1; two close pink targets that I would have crunched up in the past. I dropped 5!!!! Very close or slow is another odd adjustment to the new found vision. I think they are so clear I stare at them instead of pushing through and shooting. (I just need 100 medium range birds to star... :) )

Finished on sad 77 which really felt 10 light for me today. I know that sounds bold, but my leeed picture was a learning curve today. I will resolve it; quickly I trust. No going back, the clarity is great. I have a crystal clear view of the perfect clay flying on after I have shot at it. :)

Bumped into and/ or saw loads from here. Teepee and Aspire were shooting well when I saw them but had tripped up on a few before then. The scores that were in were nothing special, but a few big guns were going out late so I'm sure they will come.

How did you do folks?

I droped 5 silly ones on my way round to finnish on 87 would have been nice to have shot 90 , droped 3 on the sim pair :fie:

Not a bad days shooting today, after a swift 90 at hornet moved on to Weston wood. Droppped 3 daft simo birds on stand 2 getting over confident. Dropped three again on stand 7?- rabbit and looper, gusty wind changed the looper for me every time - that's life! Other than that dropped a single on the platform stand and a crosser qtr off of the scaffolding. Finished on a strong feeling 92 - great to meet clynt too!

Well done guys, good course today!

A day of ups and downs, dropping one or two here and there - then the driven pair caught me out!  The higher one didn't seem too fast to me, but it was, so missed 'em all behind!  That annoying thing when you don't adjust, convinced it's the right leeed even though you're missing!  Plonker!

Finished with a 7 at the front, so not too bad, but came away feeling I'd left a good half dozen out there - shoulda had an 8 at the front!  But there's always next time!

Great to shoot with Wayne, enjoyed the day!

Better result for me here than at Wylye.

Good shooting from radrac 83 in C Class. :good:

Many Thanks!

What a weird day...completely in the zone at Weston Wood, shot all the difficult stuff almost without exception bar talking myself out of the platform stand (4/8), which I habitually do. The targets that I missed apart from that were almost all odd silly ones (4 one away stands) and stuff I would normally hit. So, obviously delighted with an 83 at a ground as taxing as WW, but really it could easily have been significantly better and a score I would never forget!

Probably the most pleasing thing was how I shot my last stand (orange batture and r to l midi). I didn't know my score (thankfully have mastered the art of not counting), but I did know that if I held it together it was probably really good. Despite knees knocking I hit 9/10 only missing the 3rd midi when I relaxed after hitting the first 5 targets.

Then the lesson...

Was meant to be going to Wylye, but with only 70 mins to do it I aborted and went to Hornet...should have gone home or to Wylye (TP and Aspire who were just behind me made it).

Blowing an absolute gale with next to no one there shot round in less than 45 mins. I have found the targets at Hornet quite difficult for the last few months and today was no exception. Add the wind and the fact there was no time to take a breath (plus possibly loss of adrenaline) was soon in a complete mess! Ended up with a 57 which is my worst score for 9 months bar the English Open.

As if I didn't already know, there is still plenty to learn for a novice 17 months in.  :)

P.S. What a great turnout at WW...the car park was rammed at 9.55!!!! and they were queueing for cards when I was leaving at 12.45!!!

Took my new shooting stick out for the first time today, came home with a 72 on the card so pleased with that.

Left a few silly ones out there should have been a few more on my card!

Well done jas nothing the matter with 72 at the big WW...:)

Shot 69. Had some good stands: straighted rabbit and battue, 10 on a sim pair, was on for straight on the platform then missed the last pair. Lots of 6's. but too many 4's I can hit left to rights but struggled with the right to lefts.

78 at Hornet before hand. Just couldn't get that flying rabbit to break. Do you need a tight choke on that?

Well done gnasher on the harder stands a lot of people lost clays on the platform and the rabbit stand , well shot yesterday and well see you soon

Steve

3/4, 3/4 didn't help me Gnasher!   :banghead:

Fair play Steve 2 quality scores, especially a 90 at Hornet !! looking back I personally think Weston wood provided better targets in the wind that prevailed, I again faltered badly at both shoots on very similar stds !!! that pair of orange THINGS off the raised platform at Hornet destroyed a strong card for me 7 away with 3 to do when I walked up there ??? never touched the report bird just could not see it over the 50 or so orange un-hit clays on the floor ...think the Viper shot was still in the f**kin wad at that range !!!!!!!!!!! tried to keep toys in the pram but sadly failed again :fie:  never really saw the first pair on the next std flitting through the nettles  resulting in 9 or 10 misses on those two stds to card a 84. thanks for handing our cards in, I will explain my reasons to you at longridge or Westfields

std 1 at weston wood took it's toll on me but by then this old boy's eye's were shot..... 88 here after missing 9 on two stds can't believe the std over the pond was 1 away here with 4 to do over read  both big time. painful day all round for me..... you should enjoy Longridge with the form you are in.may see you there. Well shot.

I hope so Clynt, seems like a wasted journey if its nout good! Always love to shoot west midlands shooting ground when they have majors so would be nice to find another ground that I'll go out of my way to shoot!

Clynt how did the bounty battles end? Did you maintain your winning run or has Chipper regained some form?
