Decided late yesterday to change my shooting plans for the weekend and go to Weston today, pretty glad I did.

As we were up early enough we decided to see how the queues were and try and get another 70 in at 4 counties after so we rolled up about 9.30 ready to start on the stroke of 10. Small queue to book on then off we went.

Started on the o/r teal by the duck pond and thought ok great I "do" teal missed the first 2 pairs out and couldnt work out why, had a little think and remembered I have made some quite major adjustments to my gunfit. Have added a jones style butt plate which has enabled me to drop my comb considerably, a great help on crossing targets as i dont have to be 3ft under them anymore but have to blot out teal now. Walked off with a 3ex8 there.

Onto a simo pair of incomers which I straighted then a curling dropping bird off the tower followed by a high r-l midi, walked off with just 1 midi to my name. Was way under the line of both birds, gonna take a while to get my sight pictures sorted with the adjustments methinks as the only one I hit was kind of by mistake, I thought I was way over the top of it.

Cant quite remember the next few stands (have shot 20 of them today) a nice bunny followed by a low quartering in was a decent stand for me only one bunny away and the quartering chondel and crossing midi where the pool shoot usually is was a great stand,

Finished off up the platform with a low r-l white clay followed by a high l-r floaty crosser which I straighted.

A tale of highs and lows for me today, 2 straights and another 4 or 5 with only 1 or 2 away mixed with a 1, a 2 and a couple of 3's for a 63. A good shoot as normal and a great score was achieveable, didnt do it justice but with my new gun setup I can deal with a raw average score. As they say "first, do no harm"

Was done and dusted by 11.30 with very few queues, and as I said to Ally would much rather have 13 stands and no queues as today and lose a pool shoot. Onwards to 4 C's for some lunch, more on that elsewhere.

A very good shoot. Good mix of everything except some driven.

I had a good start, getting through 10 stands with just 10 away, with four of those on the teal stand.. THEN the wheels fell off, as I missed four on an easyish stand (l-r looper and l-r midi). Just went in front and mis-read them. Was then so shaken that I shot the last two stands like a burke, thinking about missing and confirming it.. 80 to finish, at least 5 below where I should have been. I guess everybody feels they should hit more but that really was a wobble..

Good to shoot with Matt and another mate. 5 more broken frisbees and it would have been a great day..

thought so, didnt manage to get jobs done until half one, good thing i was only 15mins from Crazy Bear

ended up shooting with another shoot clay member Peter w-t, even saw some blue sky which was nice

Not too much waiting about today, apart from the last stand up on the bank/scaffholding, always seems to snarl up there.

Good to meet Mr Rutherford and a few others today.

Finished up with an 85 - dropped 5 on the Pond teal stand, still found them in the end!

Micky did miss 2 on the teal right in front of me, I blame him for making me doubt myself :.: Think he dropped most if not all of the 7 on the first 4 or 5 stands saw him miss a few as I was following him. Some shooting along the lane if he did :D

Sounds about right, was following carl bloxham around think he finished on about the same 92/93?

Scores seemed low-ish a string of 86's were leading A class when i left.

Typical Weston then Scott ;) looks easy but catches people out. Just shows it doesnt need to be an edge on eysight test or 2 fields away to be a good shoot :) any idea what was leading C? would wager say a 75 might not be enough.

Yep - really enjoyed my round today - despite a 'poor' 63, some good targets out there that I really enjoyed thinking my way round. Enjoyed the platform stand, and the sim incomer pair over the back that you could choose the order... either way seemed to work for people in front of me - I picked one and stuck with it.

Good day out - nice to see so many from the forum there.

A couple of card wreckers for me but finished with a 64, then to four counties and finished there with 51 ex 70= 72.8%

First time at Weston Wood for me today and thought it was a fantastic shoot, always like shooting in wood land, came in with a 66 and had a very nice breakfast roll and a mug of tea ... I will be back again soon !

Thanks to all that came today, we had 155 entries and was finished shooting by 2.15pm - so everyone's a winner! 13 Stands a couple of strategically placed simo stands makes thinigs flow a lot easier and cuts out most of the queuing, if anything the scaffold stand could have been simo but I didn't want people to rush the low white R-L because it was a tricky flight line.

"The Teal" Stand seemed to have caused problems all day long to people. The first target was slightly right handed and powering on where as the second was flatter but because of the background, looked like it was also powering on. So with the combination of rushing back around for it and then going again with the line, 'you' tended to shoot over the top. Also a common mistake I saw today on there was foot placement. It's vital to get this right for the second target. If you set up for the first one people were tending to twist for the second and rolling their shoulder so the gun came off the line of it. I hope some of this information helps.
