Loads of people asking us how is this white gold challenge going to work....?"

Simply put:

Rock up at the qualifying ground and head to the White Gold Challenge Arena - you won't miss it, it's very well lit up!!

Check in at the Arena - £18 to shoot once, any re-entry that day is only £10.  It is 20 birds BUT If you are one of the 16 qualifiers in your Category that day you will be back on at 2.30pm to shoot head to head with the other 15 people in your category.  There is of course no additional charge for this but to go all the way you will have shot another 80 birds by the end - come prepared!

Example:

16 people qualify in Silver and 16 in Gold.

Pairs are drawn out of a hat for who is against who.

8 Pairs shoot, 8 people from each category will be knocked out at the end of this 20 bird round

Immediately following this round, the remaining 8 people from each category, (4 pairs) will line up to shoot another 20 birds each.  4 will get knocked out from each category.

The remaining 2 in each category (1 pair) will line up again and shoot another 20 birds each, the winner of this round will win £50 and qualify to be in the final on 29th September to compete for the big money.

Any confusion remaining?

If you are the lucky qualifiers, you will be one of 32 other people in your category fighting for the top prize of £3000.  If you are not the winner you could still win £1000 as runner up, £400 as a 3rd place winner (there will be 2 in each category) or £200 in 4th place (4 places in 4th place each category).

How it works:

"Compact layout" with 5 traps, you will shoot 10 birds then the next will shoot 10 birds.  Swap stands.  (2 stands each category)

Shoot another 10 birds each for your final score.

You will not have a menu in front of you.... you will have to shoot what you see.  There are 5 programmes in the qualifying rounds that we choose from for you to shoot.  No one will be able to memorise the order of play.  It's a very level and exciting playing field.....

Hope this helps, any queries I'm sure you'll let us know!

I am glad you posted that Ally, its a lot clearer now. I was a bit cynical at first but after reading that it looks very exciting.

Spoke to Steve about the format today and he explained it for me. (took a while cos I aint that bright :)  but it sounds very exiting. Pure instinct, no time to think, just react :D

The way he explained to me was 5 traps, for instance a teal away,a l-r and a r-l crosser and a couple of hanging crows/crossers. Hold out over the teal in the middle and then shoot whatever you see first :)

Only thing I didnt ask (or more likely forgot the answer) was if they are simo or on report pairs or a random selection of both and if there were any full use singles. All will become clear tomorrow though. Weather looks a bit dodgy but if its half reasonable I shall have a nosey and report back  :afro:

hmmmm 16 pairs of shooters 8 in the silver 8 in the gold is there 2 layouts ? just thinking about time it will take to shoot, and what will happen if more than 16 shooters in either class have same score ?? 16 pairs of shooters @ say 10 minutes = 2hrs 40min then 8pairs of shooters = 1hr 20mins  wont it be well dark by then !!! even if there are 2 layouts it will be tight ??

f**k the bounties I'm on the carrots tonite  :nyam:

oh so cynical clynt!

We have an 'F' Bird for a shoot off should there be any ties in the final line up.  Quick and easy to sort out.

Fuzrat - the two singles are full use of gun, the 4 pairs are all simo.

I think with the weather forecast we will be given a soft start tomorrow - time to ease into it and for you all to see how it works.  Judging by the phone calls I've taken this week there are plenty of shooters coming to have a go from far and wide, don't think they'll all be up for a long drive if it's pouring with rain though  :prankster:

Ah well, see what tomorrow brings...!

when I shot it today we were told only one shot allowed on the singles ???? wind spoilt it but still OK

Righty ho, first crack has been had and it was great fun. I was hoping to bring good news of me qualifying early doors but alas was pipped by 1 in the semi's, I went and missed my last pair :(

Format is very easy to get your head round when you watch it/shoot it. One of those you need to shoot a few times to get a half decent plan together. As you dont know what is coming I thought it would suit the fitasc/game shots but I found it easier to shoot it gun up holding for the teal then correcting for anything else rather than gun down. Gun down cost me a couple of teal in qualifying.

All in all some good fun, just a shame it was so damn wet :( BTW if you havent read it on the other thread Chipper says you owe me a Bounty

How many did you hit in the semi when you were piped by Fuz? ?/20 was the winning score in Silver? ?/20 did you need to make the shootoff?

I got pipped 14-15 I think. I would say that 15 or 16 would def get you qualified for the final 8 at the moment, but when in the last 8 scores don't matter you just have to hit 1 more than the guy next to you!

I would expect scoring to go up a bit the more its shot and people get used to the format. The more I shot it and watched others I picked up little hints and the targets are going to be the same all the way through albeit random sequences, just the backdrop changes for venue I believe. Also when the weather's better it will make it a bit easier, rain, snow and a gusty wind didn't help.

enjoyed it and can't wait for another bash :)

Above was for silver, 17s had to shootoff and a straight in gold for the last 8.

Ps Steve or Ally if you are looking in, I know you are trying to get some shelters from gamebore, any chance of some gun racks and seating at the arena too? Was going to ask for a tea delivery but might be pushing it :)

please note everyone a change of venue this saturday from windrush to westfield for the 100 bird reg shoot and also the white gold qualifier,as the grass parking at windrush will be to wet  and make it messy for future dates.

who will be the two lucky finalists on sat remember all you b and c class shooters this really is your chance to win big prize money without having to compete againest the aa shooters :nyam: :nyam:

hope to see you at westfield sat ( only 1 1/2 miles from windrush)
