Well,

I had a very pleasant hour this afternoon at Wisemans new workshop at Bridgetown, Cannock .

Interesting to see a gunsmith who does traditional cold blacking/ bluing in house , engraving, stockmaking and barrel repairs , rib relaying etc.,  rather than a journeyman who farms most of the specialist work out to outworkers . A wonderful selection of new and used guns with exceptional examples of Miroku S/H at very sensible prices .

Definately a one stop shop for the West Midlands enthusiast.

You’ll find most gun shops that offer a bluing service simply send the barrels to Wisemans. It’s a filthy job that few are prepared to do in house.

THAT includes the odd one or two Birmingham makers too  !  I have had the pleasure of visiting Wiseman's a few times recently, unfortunately I had the unpleasant task of selling a couple of S x S guns for a friend that feels he has reached the end of his shooting career, it brings it home to one, that we must all face this day far too soon  ! On a lighter note, I did pick up a slab of Hull Superfarts, with fibre wad, at £50. and a great gunslip for £20.  My friend who had his gun fit altered by them,  is slowly adapting to the alterations made to the gun. The new premises are superb and the workshop facilities, including the barrel blacking area, are bang up to date (pun intended).  I only wish they were a bit closer (to quote a popular cliche').

Forgot to say that my Westley Richards S x S that had the barrels blacked by Wiseman's in the early 1990's is still looking as good as it did back then and it cost all of £75.   😯

Proper old school gunsmith.

I have a set of barrels that could do with re-blacking. When I get round to it, Wiseman's is where they will go.

Another happy customer here of Wisemans. Dad currently has his English SxS in there for sale which they also did a great job of when they re-blacked the barrels some years back.

Had trigger guard of my dt10eell engraved (and gold inlay) with IPS kindly arranged by salopian a few years ago. Excellent job and service 👍
