Up at 7 this morning to get ready for a double header, first stop Wylye.

Arrived at the ground just after 9 and after the customary pig sanger wandered off to the top of the track to wait for first shots.

Definitely a stiffer test than a usual Wylye course, probably due to being Hants County champs. A lot of long curling stuff up and across the bank that really need some thought and a good read. I seemed to be reading them in braille today as I couldnt touch most of them.

Even the closer, more "normal" stuff had some interesting angles and speeds that needed utmost concentration to build anything like a score. I kept waiting for a gimme stand to stop some of the rot and it never came.

A good tough shoot that, in a masochistic way, I enjoyed and if I hadnt already got plans to shoot OLSS next Saturday would be back to shoot again. These are the sort of targets I need to shoot more of if I am going to improve and get a balanced classification.

A delightful slice of fruitcake to eat on the drive to 4 Counties took some of the pain from an otherwise woeful 47.

Yep .. Agree that it was a rather tough course today, I was a few off my average score with a 59 over 12 stands, but as always enjoyed being down at Wylye again . :)

I used the Miroku for the first time at a Reg' Comp and to be honest I dont think I would of shot any better if I had used my Beretta !

Few piccies :)

wow...I shot 49 and was suicidal...maybe things were more difficult than I thought. Seemed to shoot the long range and long lead stuff well, but miss everything else. Can't remember missing so much short range stuff in my 2 months+ of competition shooting. :) Pleased others suffered the same.......

93 HG and 70 something won C I believe. Good shooting to put that together. Twasn't a walk in the park by any means.

Yep! it was a tuffy that one.

You will of course have a chance to practice them again on Thursday and Saturday next week. ;)

Yesterday was a busy day! We started early and finished quite late after a shoot-off for the Hampshire title. John Heagren was the eventual winner and shot brilliantly despite feeling unwell.

The shoot was won by Jerry Hann of Devon on 93/100. A good result for him as he recently said he would give up shooting at Wylye as he could never win anything!

The prize fund was almost £1000 which is fantastic. A total of 21 people went home with a brown envelope. Full results have been sent to Bisley. Our own website is proving difficult to access today for some reason but it will be updated soonest.

A special thanks to all our staff who worked hard yesterday and thanks to all of you who decided Wylye was the place to shoot on Easter Sunday.
