A lovely sunny day drew a big entry at Wylye. I turned up at 12.30 and it was still swamped. I saw Tip Top (who did well) and Sleepy Hollow (who was doing very well, until brain-fade on last stand).

It is a rarely visited ground for me, but nothing decent was on close to home - and I needed a change. I have not been shooting much lately and felt really rusty as I headed out. (Conclude that moving up out of A will take more than 100 birds a week..)

Stand 1 was probably the easiest on the whole course, a hanging high dolly and a very basic rabbit. I dropped one of each, which set the tone for my day. I suppose I progressed, by missing two or so on most other stands, which were harder. I convincingly threw a half-decent score away by totally mis-reading a r-l Battue, which needed very little leeed. 4 misses in front.. At the furthest stand from the clubhouse I went kill-kill, kill-kill, aeroplane fly close across in front of me, miss-miss, kill, kill.. Hmmmpphhh!

Two straights I think, finishing on 76, five below my running average.

This was a tough shoot, scores wise. Chris Childerhouse was leading on 94, which was superb. No stand was too tough, but you had to work all the way round and most were finding straights hard to do.

In nature, I found that there were a lot of fast edge on crossers / quartering birds; where a bit more face or time would have been nice. Overall a good firm but fair shoot. I would definitely visit more often if it were nearer.

hi, totaly agree with you very fair and good shoot..ian very good with how he makes you think ok loads of lead when really its all angles and speed of gun..i had a day very much like yourself dropped silly clays here and there and that cost me on harder stands, straighted stand 11 and driven stand !! but that was it dropped 1 and 2 here and their and finished on 76. had good chat with tiptop and his mate! sorry didnt know ya name. how did you both get on?

Dropped loads of silly targets as usual, Driven are usually my nightmare but managed 3x4 but could not find that orange target on that stand.Finished with a 70 and was in the mix in C class with scores still to come in.Stew(sleepyhollow) was ok till the last stand and finished with 79.

Didn't see you shoot that driven stand, but it was one of my few straights. I watched four people (not you) missing that orange, all over leading it. It just wanted the right hand edge as you went through it (not too fast).

Nice to meet you too. Seen you alot but never had chance to chat. I think TipTop will still manage to hang in C for another spell. Stew
