    Prize money.

Exactly that. It's also about keeping money in class as well. I also look at it as a competition within class. I'm not interested in what the scores are in other classes as I'm not in them. The big boys shoot for the HG, which is always there irrespective of class entries. The upshot (excuse...

Lets beg to differ then, and call it winnings.😊

    Prize money.

I can see where you come from with the majors or big open shoots for sponsors, but we are talking normal registered shoots. Most of the majors, big opens carry a higher entry fee any way, so who is actually paying for the prize money? It's a bit of a double edged sword really. People complain...

    Prize money.

...And the trial will show if there is an appetite for more prize money, if not then obviously it will stay at £5.  As for sponsors on registered shoots, where does that come from? If you think it should be from the ground, then that will only have one effect, further increase in the entry fees...

    Prize money.

Irrespective of whether the club/ ground has a top quality club house, or a plastic toilet in a field, the point in question is, would people be prepared to pay a tenner into the prize pot rather than a fiver to increase the prize fund at registered shoots. The clubs/grounds with the top...

    Prize money.

It is for the grounds to decide the prize money. Some could charge £5 some £10. The prize money could be whatever the grounds decided, as long as the difference between comp and birds only is paid back as prize money. The reason it is being discussed and trialled is because people keep moaning...

    Prize money.

The extra prize money is not a done deal, just something being bandied about to see if people would be interested in trying to increase prize money. Steve has decided to run a trial registered shoot at Westfield with the increased prize fee, to try and gauge if there would be any interest in it...

    Prize money.

I think you will find that some grounds are going to be charging £40 birds only as standard when we resume next week, and  £45 for comp. The rest will follow no doubt.

    Prize money.

Don't forget you can only drop 1 classification in any 12 month period now, and you must shoot at least 600 targets now to be able to go down a class.

    Prize money.

That's quite a possibility that it would happen, and it was mentioned. The funny thing is, it was a, AAA shot that suggested this format to encourage the lower classes to try harder to improve, and give them a bigger return.

    Prize money.

That's why Steve is doing the trial. I've always shot comp, although in A never win anything, probably placed about 3 times. I will be sat on the fence with this one though. I can see the point, as people keep moaning prices go up, but prize money doesn't. The thing with prize money, other than...

There is a registered shoot scheduled at Westfield on Saturday 15th May, to trial this format and to see if there is any  interest in it.

    Prize money.

There has been a bit of a discussion on FB recently about prize money. What with the increase already for entry fees and cartridges, would people be prepared to put more into the prize pot to increase prize money? Prize money has remained static for years now. The consensus was to increase the...

Why? It's the number one excuse, in the shooters "Excuses why I didn't shoot that shoot" excuse book. Goes hand in hand with the "Why I missed, and shot crap" book. 😂

I will have an A class average after one shoot soon as we can get back out. Need to bag it as much as possible through April/May, as will no doubt be going back up. At least I get the English in 'B'aggers class. Anyway you know my thoughts on the great 'British' farce.😮😊

If I were to shoot it it would be sportrap Friday, Sporting Saturday. But I won't be so it makes no difference to me.

CPSA British Open at EJC Swinton

I think you need to treat this as a weekend away, especially if shooting it Friday/Saturday. If you are lucky enough to qualify, or fluke a finals place through category on the Saturday you will need somewhere to stay, to shoot the final on the Sunday. Either that or you must be prepared for a...

That's what I did the last time I shot it, sportrap one day, sporting the next. Glorious time in Tamworth. That was a few years ago now, before they changed the format to the farcical qualification system they now have.

Where do you draw the line?

I've always found that to be strange as well. I can understand big corporate grounds being more expensive for practice clays etc, as they have staff and higher overheads to consider. But grounds that just put on the odd practice/registered shoots that follow suit, I think are taking the piss. As...
