    It’s how far?

Well I have just got back from the ground never saw any lead. I never shot badly by any means but packed after two rounds of UT thought F this I am not enjoying this at all striped my gun down and headed home. It has been a odd season due to COVID and lock down but I am on the point of packing...

    Trap choke sizes.......again?

If I missed a couple out of 50 the last thing on my mind would be my choke size. You hit 96% of the targets and missed 4% do you really think a more open choke is the answer? Next time concentrate on hitting 100% . Not only that how many of the targets did you break on the first barrel? At DTL...

Eye domanance and eye black out covers

"Successfully" is the word because statistically there must be about 40% of shooters who are crossed . However there are quite a few I know who shoot well and some very well... Derek Burnett comes to mind, must be others though. True story I know a shooter who is right eye dom, right handed ...

Eye domanance and eye black out covers

I use a bit of translucent tape over part of the lens of my dominant eye to block it at the bead. I find it less tiring than closing my eye... each to there own though, I am sure that Hammy said he eventually trained himself to shoot both eyes open while shooting off the wrong shoulder.

    Trap choke sizes.......again?

I am not a great shot but I can break OT targets just as well with 1/2 and full... it really is about putting it on the target in my opinion. Choke sizes, within reason, throw up more negatives for the head than they do positives for breaking targets in my opinion. There are so many different...

    So I Had A Bit Of L

I think he has a few of those pogo sticks Ian. BTW how are things with you I miss your input as well as that of all the other old boys that used to frequent this site. I know you stopped shooting trap and had moved over to the hunting scene... to be honest I used to enjoy my days out trying to...

    So I Had A Bit Of L

Plenty of time to do a job on it Charlie! Re German design and engineering... they have a habit of over egging everything they make but I have the Egrosign and I think it whispers things like Panther, Tiger, King Tiger  and 88mm to those lesser TSK's  and Shoot off stocks I see over here   ...

    Closing the gun

I never have my gun in a slip. It goes to the ground in its carrying case and is made up when I get the the ground. There after the gun is broken at all times unless it is my turn to shoot. At the end of the round we are told the round is finished and guns must be unloaded it then either goes...

    Loose trigger group on DT11

As it should be triggers are not meant to be flapping about ready to fall out.

    Loose trigger group on DT11

I do not think it can be a good thing to have any play in the trigger group . The Perazzi trigger is removed by pushing the safety forward which in turn lifts a ball catch out of a socket at the back of the trigger unit. Could be that the spring on the catch is worn or broken... if of course...

    Gun up & down mounting/targetting

@Lloyd  Yes I understand that BUT you are still seeing any targets you are about to shoot, in some cases many times over, before you shoot them. If that does not give you the speed , angles and trajectories you must go into these situations asleep   . Of course this is probably exactly...

    Gun up & down mounting/targetting

Yes I agree but you see the targets ad nausea um before you have to shoot them... there is not secret there you watch the guy before you and the guy before him and before him... if you don't know where it is coming from where it is going to and the angle etc  after watching that lot it is your...

    Gun up & down mounting/targetting

Don't know how you come up with that. You get a chance to see the targets before you shoot and sometimes you will see the target many times over before you actually shoot it at ESP. In fact you know exactly where the target is coming from and going to, the angle and height... you stand and watch...

Trap bead sight picture. How much rib?

Yes Phil it was going to be a great year ...two big comps at Ychoux for which I had accommodation booked in January and I was thinking about Umbriaverde but thankfully decided against that so no bookings to cancel there. I was lucky compared to you I had no travel bookings to worry about. Would...

Trap bead sight picture. How much rib?

And shoot them very successfully Phil ... all the best! Shame nearly all the comps were cancelled this year. We have had a fantastic summer and I have shot very little because of the lockdown . Now not going to Lonato for my usual holiday in September either sigh roll on next year!

Trap bead sight picture. How much rib?

I have my stock Monte Carlo style and it measures 30mm - 30 mm so I see quite a bit of rib. I do not have a mid bead but I can put two Euro coins about 15cm down the rib and still see the bead over the top of them. I agree with Charlie the amount of rib is not really significant as long as you...

    Interesting

Charlie what I will say is back in the day when the site had a lot of good input from some experienced trap shooters I was given some great information. In many ways I actually learned and improved my shooting from advice given on here... they have all drifted away now the two elders  IPS and...

    Interesting

There could be a number of reasons for that not least that cartridge manufacturers improved their products and the quality of shooters especially today is massively better than back in the day, many of them regularly shooting 25 straight with only one barrel in high level competition.  That is...

    Interesting

You may say irrelevant... I really don't think so. The fact is we have had through the years a lot of debates on here about how effective cartridge loads are. Some of these debates have seen shooters who have no real status as such claiming that lighter loads are somehow more effective at...

    Interesting

When an Olympic gold medal winner and god knows how many other honours won says more is better I listen. This is the point I was making when I posted. There have been many many debates about shot loads and there have been many on here who have won the square root of F'all telling us that...
