    Interesting

I am sure we have all debated the how much lead do you need and is a lighter load as good or even a benefit in shooting ?This guy seems to think not... I have always been inclined to think the more stuff you have in your cartridge the better the chance of breaking the target it seems common...

    Closing the gun

To be fair the gun is not the problem at all it is the people who shoot them... and in my experience down here at any rate these tend to be young lads that have little experience of shooting who have been loaned a gun for the day to play. Unlike in the UK down here you can get a day shooters...

    Closing the gun

Safety and the mess they leave behind. As soon as I see a semi auto come onto the ground I want to leave! Detestable things so they are I had a guy hitting me with his empties from post three when I was on five

    Closing the gun

I agree but would ask this question. Is the safety on a shotgun there so that a shooter can knowingly carry around a loaded gun ? Surely that cannot be right? Or wait is it so that when the shooter opens his gun and then drops in the cartridges closes the gun and readies for the shot the safety...

    Closing the gun

"Game shooting conventions" .. would that be a bunch of roasters out in a field waving their guns around? I was beating on a shoot where some arsehole  with their very expensive side by side closed and pointing back over their shoulder was standing talking to his like minded buddies  at the end...

    Closing the gun

I go with that... and a bit further. Where I shoot you are told when you can load your gun and told when the series is finished and guns should be unloaded. The only gun I see as being in anyway contentious when it comes to whether a gun is loaded or un loaded on a trap ground is a semi ...

    Closing the gun

The worst gun handling I ever see is game shooters coming to a clay ground to " get their eye in" I have often left the ground because of their antics... mind you deaths are common place in French hunting circles.

    Biodegradable wad

And they all lived happily ever after... except for the ducks    This is just my incredibly narrow minded view but I care as much about protecting the planet for the adorable future generations about as much as they care one about me... not one iota !  Here is the view of the...

    GB Perazzi Dealer ? ?

Charlie it is important to note that Arsenal FC should really be called " The Arsenal" their historic true name. They did drop the " The" from their name but true supporters know that they are "The Arsenal"

    GB Perazzi Dealer ? ?

    Steel shot debate.

I thought this was a good paper on the comparison of lead and steel loaded shotgun cartridges. I have only lightly read it over but to be honest it reads, to me anyway, as though a steel shooter is at a significant disadvantage compared to a quality lead shooter.... it is an old paper and things...

    DTL centre dominance

I watched a youtube video during lockdown by Russel Mark in which he opined that the shooter who uses both eyes should adopt a higher gun hold for DTL than the one eyed shooter. With caveats to be fair he does say even if you use both eyes when shooting if have a poor technique and habitually...

    Trap / DTL shooting position

I am obviously misinterpreting what you mean by " rifle shooting" because to me that suggests to me a dead gun ie stopped and aiming. Just my opinion but any deliberate eye /bead coordination is a very bad way to shoot trap. You are clearly a more experienced shooter than me but I don't...

    Trap / DTL shooting position

DTL may be difficult to win at but do not confuse it with a fast trap game like UT, ABT or OT which require shooting by the swing through method. Making decent scores shooting with a dead gun would be a feat IMO and second barrel hits would be near impossible.

    Alternative to Cast

Yes it could be ... but remember he is shooting Olympic Skeet and I doubt  the man at the very top of the tree  let alone anybody else actually pull off the perfect mount every time. He brought the gun up and probably just shot the target because he had to?

    Alternative to Cast

So you want to make a couple of flights, pay for accommodation etc to have a stock made in Portugal. Fine if you are having a holiday but .... there must be some pretty decent stockers in England who could do that work for you? I know a guy here who had a MR stock made a couple of years back...

    Alternative to Cast

I do. I have. It made no difference for me at all. Talking about fitted stocks and made to measure stocks is fine BUT for the average shooter they don't really make much economic sense. It makes a great deal of sense though for a manufacturer to make their, shall we say, off the shelf cheaper...

    Alternative to Cast

I would like to hear how you explain that.  Even on a stock that is tailor made for the shooter the stock is actually straight.... the only thing that changes is the way the wood of the stock is sculpted to put the shooters eye over the center of the rib and allow for anatomical...

    Alternative to Cast

Oh I agree entirely that is why I have said chop it in or get another stock made.

    Alternative to Cast

It really depends how much you wish to spend.. ? If a stock needs to be heat treated and moved to a new shape... that may well not be the last time you have to fork out to have it done, as you know wood is lively and given a chance will change to a more convenient  shape and as an even worse...
