Failed Proof: Came off when firing

Best to wait until you see it. It might be obvious then. Please post some photos when you get it back.

    Tighter choke for newbies?

Westley - Not really & my post was very much tongue in cheek. 1/4 & 1/2 stay in my gun with cartridges for close, normal and long range. I tend to buy Teague but I do pay extra for the markings (an eyesight thing) Will has made the point (quite rightly) that this creates too many choices but...

    Tighter choke for newbies?

I am great believer that all chokes should have coloured rings. It is common knowledge that some colours (particularly blue & purple) help shot spread. The Briley Spectrum chokes are my preferred choice as the the band is substantial and its easy to see from a distance that your gun is the...

20 gauge - 7.5 or 8 shot? for my daughter

My daughters 20g 686 is still with us but it was 9 months before it was replaced as her daily by a 12g. Otherwise agree with all of the above and would add don't spend a lot of money on fancy chokes if she might move on.

    Tighter choke for newbies?

I think Robden was using satire - "the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues".

    Shoot reports and news 2024

The general procedure around us is for the Ref to be quite on pair hit and then call the misses - e.g. hit & miss, miss & hit and pair missed.

    Pilla prescription inserts

The modern contact lenses are much much better than those anyone would have tried 10 years ago. One day lenses are also convenient and can allow for the correction of an astigmatism. They are not perfect and getting them quickly in & out is an art not science. Many (all when I looked) of the...

Checklist buying a second hand gun

If I get bored over the weekend I try and pull a list together - there must be 10 things I've forgotten to do in the past. First two are, Check the serials numbers of the recover and barrels match, Take the forend off and give it a shake to check for a 'headache' etc.

    CPSA smiles on the north!

At £83 for 120 bird competition someone is making a healthy profit - what was the cost of entry last year ??

    Mid level Competition cartridge

Patterns - It will be done this week or maybe next - Was planning to do it Friday along with through Fblu & FBlack comparison. I can't say its a good idea all round but I do find it makes me think about the close range stuff which I had previously been missing. The close range stuff (9s) are...

    Mid level Competition cartridge

Martin raises an interesting point - which we have discussed here in part. I now carry three cartridges (* on the 4th as follows) - Express Suprerlite 24g*, Hull Close Range, FBlus & Rossas. My mid level cartridge is therefore also my mid range one. Fixed chokes - 1/4 & 1/2.

    Mid level Competition cartridge

I have ended up with some TT1 and the jury is still out - I need to do some (rubbish quality) testing. I would go Fiocchi FBlu (my preferred) or Gamebore Evo (my daughters & slightly smoother and not prone to the remote possibility of Fiocchi primer issues).

    Time for a treat

One question - how much do you shoot ? Many, such as Will & certainly me, pick a gun with reliability and consistency for regular use - 10k/15k a year maybe - so the 694 & F3 ticks the box at reasonable money new (perhaps you will need 2nd hand with the F3 at £6k). I have both and they whilst...

Please let me know how you get on. It looks like Botox for guns.

Another price increase for cartridges at end of January

The problem with businesses and top line profit is that we are interested in the mark-up and they only tell us their interpretation of the top line profit. £45 out of the £50 might be costs/overheads which leaves a profit of £5 or 2% - not great but adequate if you have a high turnover. Edit -...

Another price increase for cartridges at end of January

Recoil seems to be a personal thing. I've been shooting FBlack (28) & FBlu (24 & 28) for the past 18 months or so and I was moving towards the FBlack until someone on here said they are the same but that the FBlack was slightly more kicky to help semi-autos reload; apparently they perform out...

    Noob Again - Lead

Peter - As I said above I prefer to take people as I find them. I gave you that courtesy and will continue to do the same for others.

    Noob Again - Lead

Yep - My fault - Prefer to make up my own mind. You lot could ask me if I'm alright instead of making jokes :)

    Noob Again - Lead

I read it as a quote so it’s very disappointing to find it’s not. Very unprofessional. Having said that it doesn’t surprise me given Peter’s polarised view of himself and the ease with which he dismisses others points of view. I now understand why Ben was so forthright when Peter first started...
