Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Those oven gloves keep my hands nice and toasty, so they will be a regular fixture.....or at least until the mocking becomes unbearable! 24, 14, 19, 24 (81) on the Compak. Really struggled on layout 3 which we shot 2nd. We arrived as the squad was finishing so didn't get a chance to study to...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Day to forget today. First shoot I got so annoyed by shooters dishonesty when referees were marking very clearly missed clays as kills. This was happening on a lot of stands and not the odd one or two. The £5 was a waste as it wasn’t a fair competition. Raised it refs and was informed that they...

Change lens at the touch of a button?

Based on recent weather that style of frame actually wouldn't be a bad thing....

    90, 89 and 87 were the placings for B class 😐

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Westfield today and it took me 4 stands to wake up (in those stands I dropped 11); after that I dropped a further 7 around the rest of the course so much tidier shooting. Ended on 82. EDIT: Just seen the scores in B class. I was nowhere near.....

    The joys of CPSA membership

Also, during the recent website upgrade I was able to offer assistance that was accepted and appreciated. Pretty decent bunch all in all 👍

Ordered some new 'over gloves' for use in between stands.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AFDGRKY/ Sounds like they should be up to the job!

    The joys of CPSA membership

I'll stick up for them as I've never had a problem with them, granted only been a member for 3 years. Always friendly and polite when asking them for help and when seeing them at competitions.

    Gloves for shooting?

Macwets get the vote to actually shoot in. However, I'm going to be using some thermal windproof mittens between stands!

    Grand Prix of Cyprus 2019

https://www.fitasc.com/uk/competition/view/896-compet  Is anyone planning on heading out to Cyprus for the Grand Prix Compak? I'm concerned about travelling with a shotgun on the weekend of Brexit!  Is the weather pretty nice at this time of year? Or likely to be stormy...

Full use of gun on singles, can not take more than one shot at either of the birds in a report or simo pair.

Yep. Looking at the cut offs I will be in B class....assuming no more shooting until period is over. The scores this weekend, in B class, were quite strong. Tim Simmons 99 Sam Usher 98 Rob Gray 97

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Had my first attempt at Compak today at Westfield. Smiles all round and some entertaining targets. Yes, some easier birds combined with the ability to double barrel the singles. Enjoyable discipline though and I’m pretty sure the ground will be hosting more in the future.  Ended on 89/100. No...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

After a partridge day yesterday it was a return to the clays today. Honesberie, for the series final.  I really liked the shoot, I'll agree on stand 6 as I couldn't connect with it but I saw others manage it so obviously doable. I enjoyed stand 9, not often you get to shoot big gaps like that...

What you all been up too...

Was lucky enough to go out to Spain and shoot partridges over some pointers a couple weeks back. Only a bag of 4 but it was great sport and lovely weather. On Saturday I'm going to Bodfuan where I'm sharing a peg with a friend. That's it for whats arranged so far! I'd love to have some Saturday...
