    only shoot 1/2 & 3/4

When I got my K80 it was fixed full and full. Had multi chokes done (Teague) and must admit tended to leave 1/4 and 3/8 in and flicked over barrels if needed. At a shoot with a very well known top shot ground owner I admitted I was struggling with a particular target. He asked me what chokes...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

We have nothing local to us anymore I’m afraid so we have to travel to shoot now. Owls, EJC or Barbury are our closest “decent” grounds and there are 50 mph restrictions on M25 5-6, J10 then on the M3 and two lots on M4! Even allowing for that you can’t allow for accidents and closures on the...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

We shot the Pro One at Barbury on Thursday. Nightmare from the off, due to start shooting at 1 so arranged to get there for 11.30/12 for coffee etc. normally a 1.5 - 2 hour journey, left home just before 9.15 ish and coming down the A21 to get on M25 J5 we heard it was closed so ended up going...

    Misfire

Worst thing was the hubby absolutely peeing himself laughing and the drive down to A&E - it was a boiling hot day, had to have the windows open and this pink fluffy fly flying about 🤣🤣

    Misfire

I feel your pain. Shows how quickly these things happen. I was fly fishing years ago, tightened the knot with the line in my mouth, pulled quickly and the fly (a big, pretty pink fluffy fly) with a barbed hook went straight through my lip! Ended up at A&E where I think just about every doctor...

    Ian Coleys - Road Closure

Thanks Richard, I was hoping they’ve got diversion signs! We normally turn off at the Highwayman pub and go up that way, past the Green Dragon pub.

    How to get better?

Re Bens subscription videos, so much more informative that just YouTube, it will take you through each method, where and why you would use it. Takes you through individual targets, ie rabbits, teal etc and so much more. A new video released every month. Must be about 30 on there or more...

    How to get better?

The hardest thing to do is once youve hit a pair to do that exactly the same 4/5 times over. Once I’ve decided what method and hold points etc and I’ve hit the first pair, I really try to do exactly the same thing, ie in my mind I say kill point, then hold point etc but I’m very easily...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Good news Donna I spoke to Josh about the top field grouse butt. The very low C bird had me scraping my gun twice. He’s going to have little pallets things made so if someone needs it it’s there. Finally, I’ve mentioned it so many times, not just at Barbury but at many grounds including EJC...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

So, 2 shoots last week, EJC on Thursday and Owls on Saturday. EJC still frustrates me shooting in the tall wooden bungs, last stand I ended up shooting first target fast to get the second one before it dropped behind trees (sim pair) and mucked up the stand to finish on a 78. Owls was a good...

    Chokes

When I had my auto I got into the habit of checking choke and tightening it as I came out the stand/before putting it away as it would work loose every few stands. Don’t get that on my K80 and teagues but I do change chokes during the shoot sometimes and as they stick out the end I do twist...

    Chokes

Had my old MK38 fixed opened up and used Brileys, excellent pattern with whatever choke I used, now have Teagues and can’t fault them either. Stick with whatever you’re happy with. Makes life easier!

CPSA Registration What next ? What to Expect ?

Depends where you want to shoot, if you go onto the CPSA website and look at the fixtures and find a shoot you want to do it will tell you whether it’s a registered or open shoot. Registered means your scores get sent to CPSA for your averages and classification. It should tell you whether it’s...

CPSA Registration What next ? What to Expect ?

Some competitions are just turn up and shoot so you and your friend can just go around together and normally can start at whatever stand you want. Others you have to book in, again when booking just book the two (or however) in together. I normally book for 4 of us at once so not a problem...
