    Abuse of Referees

So if you really want to carpetbag you call the ref a muppet half a dozen times, drop a class or two, come back and clean up. Abuse ref card gets marked DNF - Did Not Finish. CPSA then marks it down as such and that score is calculated as a top of current class score ( ie the top cut off for...

    A question of class.

Bit odd really, as has been postulated on a facebook forum. how can someone who is an AAA shooter in say ESP be ranked as a complete beginner in say Skeet? Any disciplines you have not shot you should be ranked one class below your current scored class. So an A ESP shooter would be classed B...

I've shot with you at Southdown Will. Regularly sun in your eyes all the way down the lane on the South side! :)

    Sunshine

Stands are supposed to be set up to avoid this as far as possible. In practice .... yer pays yer money and takes yer choice!  A cap sometimes helps but I find it limits peripheral view so much that it spoils my shooting. Few lenses ( if any ) on glasses can cope with a clay in the full sun...

World Festival of Shooting - Scores

Shot the Prelim yesterday. Glorious day out. It was a world class event, great organisation by EJ Churchill.  8 hours of driving for 2 hours of shooting ..... just about worth it! Stand 7 I watched 3 squads before ours 0 out on bird 2. Stepped into the stand, nailed 2 of them, then thought to...

    Corporate shoots

Do you pay a membership fee? If not then how should they communicate with you? Do they have a Facebook page or website? If they do then I'd say it's up to you to check on them. If you don't like their communications you can always vote with your feet.

Shooting reg cpsa for wheelchair shooter

Would there be any objection to a disabled shooter being able to shoot targets from a slightly more accessible position? Say at the base of a platform. Lets be fair, some of these guys are at a huge disadvantage already, making a few accommodations wouldn't hurt the regular shooters. I'd be far...

    Sponsorship

The same way that some people can set up a business and draw in investors even though their base idea is flawed, gift of the gab, supreme networking, work the angles type people. Pretty much sums up the whole media landscape.

Driven targets - Allowed to turn in the cage ?

Playing devils advocate ....... If the ground people don't have the necessary tools to adjust a cage then surely they shouldn't set targets that might compromise safety if someone uses the sweep allowed by the cage! The target setter should consider the cages restrictions ( or lack of them )...

Driven targets - Allowed to turn in the cage ?

Quite correct but then the ground should put a bar in the cage to stop you moving the gun to a point where it's unsafe! As jasper said .... that's the point of the cage!

    CPSA Website

So, the website has had a few months to bed in and seems to now work reasonably. It does look a lot better than the old one I must say. But the event search facility is dire, appalling. Problem 1: The data is 'dirty' and needs cleaning. Do a search for registered shoots and you still get...

Visitors from US... which ground to visit

Depends what you are trying to show off to them! Consider Oakedge,  just north of Birmingham but a beautiful piece of ground with some good targets. Garlands when Steve has a shoot on.

    Shoots are too easy nowadays

Golf seems to manage it pretty well. Different courses, altitudes, weather, grass, terrain and a hundred other variables for every round. And yet they seem to come up with a pretty workable handicap system. The secret is in handicapping the course as well.  If the results off a days shoot...
