    Another price increase

Used to shoot hull superfast and lower end eleys. Don't bother since the price increase. Gone on to fiocchi TT1.  They do the job and there is no way the extra £30/40 + for bottom end eleys and hull is justified spending in my opinion

    MK38 or 525

Totally agree plus Browning are steel proofed. 525 wins all hands down for me. Recently bought the new525sl edition with trap forend, very happy.

Premium cartridges - are they worth it?

How would you feel paying €10 for 25 . That's what many grounds charge in UK  and some more than that.

Premium cartridges - are they worth it?

Also clay prices!! What some of the grounds charge is extracting copious amounts of urine, compared to cartridge manufactures.

    New discipline

From reading your description it presume the three traps would be stationary but the Clay's fired off randomly. If so why not get a sports trap set up (5 traps better than 3) keep your cages for your 5 stations.  Then computorise your release sequence using UT soft ware programmes. Shoot one...

    Pattern plates

A roll of linning paper , an old pallet and a stapler is all you need.

Premium cartridges - are they worth it?

Just a thought, but could manufactures massively inflate their prices on what are purported to be superior performing brands in their range, in order to make their base cartridge range look a better buy. Thus allowing them still to retain an healthy margin on 'lesser' types that they pump out in...

Premium cartridges - are they worth it?

I shoot both of them and everytime I miss I have never put it down to the cartridge. As a matter of interest I once got a slab of eley top of the range titanium strike and unbelievably my scores stayed just about the same.

    opinions on Brownings laminated stocks

Think modern guns with adjustable stocks have quite a bit of adjustment capability. Think if you checked out general fit before buying cant see the need to bend it at some later date. I would estimate that by far more grade 5 browning's and miroku have suffered from cracked stocks than have...

    opinions on Brownings laminated stocks

Far more robust and practical than wood, but less pretty .also disliked by the traditionidts.  I would have bought a grey laminated 525 if they had built it with trap forend

    Shotgun certificate referee

Valid point. I also cant see the reason for going through this process on renewel applications

    Side blinders on glasses

I have noticed several clay shooters with these especially on Trap disciplines. Anyone know where you can buy them and are they beneficial

    Speeds.

Interesting. For some reason I always thought OT was faster than ABT seems they are just about the same. Also no mention of UT , is that also the same

    steel chalenge

I think you will find that all lead waterpipes have been replaced. The only bits that have not is the section that runs over your own property which is your own responsibility. I had this out with water companies some time ago and had to pay this myself. You will find that if you ever build an...

    steel chalenge

I dont think you need to up lift the load. Let's say a 28gm lead load contained 350 pellets. Then you would need a steel cartridge that also contained 350 pellets and a total shot load of 28 gm.  The steal cartridge would have a different volume of shot and each pellet would obviously be a...

    steel chalenge

I like Russels clips but to me this particular one is meaningless. As an experiment he should have compared steel and lead using pellets of identical mass and not identical size. The results proved nothing at all . However in all fairness he alluded to that in his conclusions.

    steel chalenge

There are some extremely valid points about not banning lead. I agree with everyone . However common sense and strong evidence for its continuation are irrelevent. We do not live in common sense times anymore . For instance man has been burning wood ever sinse he developed the skill of lighting...

    steel chalenge

I am sure when push comes to shove. The cartridge companies will be producing a reasonably priced steel cartridge with eco wads. If they dont they will go out of business simple as that. We can kick and rail all we want but the days of pumping lead and plastic into the environment are numbered.

    Brace yourself

I think you are right and it's going to be another layer of expense. When doctors realise that they have the power to influence and we have no alternative, up goes their fee .
