    Aero 4 glasses

for what it’s worth , I’ve just had my Zeiss Sport specs reglazed with a new prescription after a clay strike . For anybody living within a driving distance of Barnsley I’ll give a shout out for https://www.barnsleyoptical.co.uk/services/ Recommended by a fellow shooter , and I only live 15...

    Aero 4 glasses

To be fair you don’t need a ‘ safety ‘ lens . By that I mean a kite marked BS or E marked thing that you’d wear at work . Any plastic lens in a quality frame will save your vision from clay fragments . A pair of industrial safety specs or ( even goggles) to any standard won’t save you from a...

Ips still alive and kicking !

And long may you both continue , on Saturday I declined to swap pegs and I was still coming back up the hill while the rest were in the pub so I feel for you !

    Chokes for sporting

I always wonder why people who have two different choke constrictions in a sporting or game gun will say shoot the bottom barrel first when they have a barrel selector , surely the whole object of the set up is to use the gun to the best advantage on a target or targets , depending on their...

    New Beretta Shotgun Platform 14/11/2024

Because I fancied a 682 Gold , then I fancied a tricked out MK38 trap gun at the time . Simple . I’ve bought and sold all sorts of guns over the years . Longest I kept a gun was a Krieghoff k80 for 20 odd years then … etc etc . Probably changed 10 times in the 50 years I’ve had a licence .

    New Beretta Shotgun Platform 14/11/2024

About 40 years ago , the go to competition gun ( for those who couldn’t afford a SO or ASE ) was a Beretta 682 , no doubt popularised by a certain Mr Digweed who won everything with one . It was wider and heavier in the action than other 680 series guns and breathed on by the competition...

    Yorkshire area recommendations

It’s not my cup of tea either :ROFLMAO: Expensive , flat , windy , but it has some big towers , and good pies and sausage rolls . Today I wanted a quick knock about to sort out a problem plus try some things . My go to Kelbrook , Thimbleby , Churchills are all that bit further , I did Emley to...

    Yorkshire area recommendations

One that springs to mind is Park Lodge Shooting School , open from Wednesday every week , should be 40minutes or so up the M18.

    It's not a shotgun 'licence' ...

You are licensed to drive a car , you are licensed to own a firearm , the certificate is the equivalent of a vehicles V5 .

Plastic or Fibre wad 24g or 28g 7.5-6

Because retained energy kills and breaks things not pellet count alone , and a heavier pellet delivers more . You’ve to really look a what pellet size will break what you’re shooting at given the distance you’re shooting at Then use the maximum shot weight allowed by the rules .

    Gloucestershire suspend all certificate applications

Lots could be done . What BASC were pushing for is the 10 year certificate because certificate holders now have a firearms flag on NHS computer systems . If I were a management consultant, I’d be pushing this , charge double the 5 year rate , get rid of a third of staff , win -win , loads of...

    Gloucestershire suspend all certificate applications

Titanium is a requirement here in West Yorks , one of the questions is something like ‘ does your partner have an interest in criminals and criminality ‘ … my other half was going to respond ‘ Well he does keep watching re-runs of The Sopranos ‘ . All joking apart , she received an e-mail...

    Gloucestershire suspend all certificate applications

Out of interest , has that constabulary adopted the Domestic Abuse Screening questionnaire as a standard requirement . That alone will increase the workload per application . It’s compulsory in a number of forces now . I’ve also heard that although certificate numbers are falling in total...

    Recommend me a 20 Bore

It would be very hard nowadays to find a quality over and under gun that wasn’t an ejector , I’ve been caught empty two weekends running ( with an ejector ! ) , so I get the need for fast reloading if birds are flushing . At the end of the day if you’re not going to shoot clays competitively ...

    Recommend me a 20 Bore

Again out of interest , what has made you consider a 20g as your weapon of choice ? I have 12 and 20 , but I see the 12 as a much more universal tool , with the benefit of ammunition being significantly cheaper ( for example a 1000 mid range clay 12g , 24gm , typically around £275, in 20g...

Is shooting good for mental health?

The whole issue of mental illness is much too complicated to broad brush , saying encouraging people to go out shooting would help them has no real validity , it might , or it might not . The risk assessment is for public safety , not personal well being . Being devils advocate that’s a...

    Recommend me a 20 Bore

Find a nice used Miroku MK60 grade 5 universal sporter in 20gauge . It will come with a 3” chambers and 1/4 & 3/4 fixed chokes , 30 “ barrels and a white front and mid bead . It has a hard plastic butt plate not a rubber pad , and it makes a great game gun , but also very useable on clays ...

    Teaue thin walled chokes.

That rings a bell Westley , I can recall some debate about whether people asking their dealer to get the gun ‘ Teagued ‘ were actually getting the gun sent to Teague , but that must be 30 plus years ago . What model gun are you talking about ?

    Teaue thin walled chokes.

The serial number is the key , as Teague measure the actual bore of that gun then select a tube that gives , a constriction of 0 , .005 , .010 , .015 , etc . If you ring them and quote the make and serial number they will work from that , it will be in their records and can tell you what came...
