Our friend Ed Solomons is currently in Ulm, Germany - visiting the Krieghoff factory to see the progress of his new gun - and choose the stock...

He kindly offered to share some interesting photos from his trip - which I have uploaded to the gallery:

Some more to come tomorrow.

Apologies for the small pics - these are taken from Facebook, the only reliable way I could get them from Ed during his trip.

I liked picture number 7 showing the Aus Arbeiter making firewood.

EvoComps are also German  and their master crafts man would not let you anywhere near his machines....back to the waiting room behind the glass Ed

Just goes to show Krieghoff will let anyone work on their guns. There's a Belgian who trained on Miroku's who I hear is quite good, lives in Wrexham.

Certainly not. I would say sensible, know value for money, and don't need to massage an ego. Or drive round in an Indian financed unreliable money pit.

Thankfully we are not all gullible.

I love my money pit, it's tall enough to look down on the poor people ;-)

Kreighoff made for life tried and test workmanship , 10 year warranty, good resales, not that many people sell them on, I am totally bias and I do need to massage my ego as I can't shoot, I need to massage my ego as I would not be 911 turbo driver if not another German engineered product that is tried and tested and not understood by many who have never had one.

Kreighoff is the mid life crisis marmite gun, I am proud to be taken in by the hype.

I say its a good job we all have different tastes or there would only be one mfr and one discipline. Very boring that would be.

K80 TCG,

 An interesting post.

Miroku are also guaranteed for ten years for the original owner and do not have to be serviced every year to validate the warranty unlike Krieghoff which do have to be serviced.

Sadly a friend has a Krieghoff which apart from double discharging on a few occasions and having numerous firing pins made and changed to try and cure fail to fire and he has been charged each time by Alan Rhone.

How many Krieghoffs have had the rusty barrel syndrome?? Quite a few to date.

To make my position very clear, I have no issue with what anyone chooses, indeed I have tried most, but frankly Krieghoff are vastly overpriced and not value for money in my opinion.

Having worked for BMW, Porsche, Ford and Zakspeed in Germany, I do not wish to comment upon their engineering prowess. If they were good they wouldn't have employed me.

and if you want to knit pick and the like

how many million mirooks have pitted firing pins? almost come straight out the factory with them!

i bet the dealers charge to replace them dont they.....oh let me guess they are not under warranty ;)
Emmsy don't be awkward. You can replace Miroku firing pins with an equal quality substitute at home. Simply trim a wooden tooth pick to the correct length and fit.

Emmsy,

I also would not fault Alan & Erwin for service.

Pitted pins do not seem to be an issue nowadays and I have a Citori with a bottom pin  that was pitted thirty years ago and is still going strong.

Let's face facts, the real reason that people aspire to a Krieghoff is as a fashion statement. They are no better than any other competition bred gun. It is more of a statement of wealth, not performance. As I have always stated 'Far too overpriced'.

Miroku have severed all ties with Hewland Engineering Metallurgy department. Quality may have deteriorated since Mike retired and the shooting wastrel took over .
