well max (dolphin) was very accommodating he kindly lent me a dtl layout and we set a straight target, did some fiddling with the rib and came to no conclusion on rib setting, only concluded that trying to see a sight picture to work out poi is fatal. Anyway its very comfortable to shoot with virtually no recoil and even max liked it when he shot it. Just need to get some lead through it.

cheers max. Appreciate your help.

Sounds good, Unfortunately stuck on the train back from the smoke so couldn't make it and have s nosy. Bet it'll be a good all rounder too.

Don't they provide a manual for the rib? Perazi do/did for the 2003 :)

absolutly no problem, hope this is the start of a beautiful relationship (between you and the gun of course!)

shucks, I thought you meant you and I :)

prob cya sun max ?

just for curiosity sake.

those of you with hi ribs, do you set em flat or see lots of rib. Personally I see no benefit of seing a lot of rib either on std or hi rib. Also out of interest do you set a high poi or a pretty flat one ?

any other snippets of info on hi rib setting or indeed use just for conversation sake.

I thought that was the whole point of an adjustable rib? So you can set the sight picture as you want it (i.e flat rib) but have a higher POI? Harry shoots a pretty flat rib (I think) while I like to have a pound coins worth showing below the front bead.

Personally I see no reason to have lots of rib visible as it becomes difficult to gauge if you have mounted correctly. One chap over on the American forum has a substantial gap between the mid bead and the front bead! How the bloody hell do you gauge that accurately?? Either stack um up (figure of eight) or put one behind the other or preferably take the middle one off :)

Ha, I guess it you trying to 2 time me you slapper IPS
now would I me old mate :)

When I first purchased a Perazzi MX 2000/3 I was somewhat confused about how best to set it up.

After doing a lot of research I came across the following article by Vic Harker which answered all my questions.

Hope it helps you too.

interesting and confirms my thoughts re setting the rib flat. Thanks for posting it. I am now off to fiddle some more :)

On the pattern board

Set the front/bead as high as it will go.  Set the rest of the rib as low as it will go to get it outta the way.  Raise the comb until you get the POI you want in ref to your desired POA.  Then set the rest of the rib for the rib picture that you want to see.  DO Not LOwer the front.

This will give you the highest comb setting that is possible for you.

I don't care how much rib I see.  I only am concerned that the gun shoots where I look.

Ian my current rib is not adjustable as you know, but when I had the mx2005 I had the rib set mid way. I had no mid bead, but if I'd had one there would have been a big gap between the beads. Its all down to personal preference mate!

The only problem with approach Charlie is the 692 only has two positions at the rear end of the rib but the front is infinitely variable !

Sounds like you've set up a Reverse Slope Rib to me!!!!

doesn't make any difference just get the rib outa the way when you're setting the comb so it doesn't confuse you since it is meaningless.  Crank up the front and adjust the comb for POI and you're there

Not looking for a reverse slope tho you could do that if you want - it doesn't make any difference.
