Don't forget the factory adj stock on the 688, too. I have been pondering getting one for the bad weather. I shoot a DT10L, which I think sublime and dearly love, and I don't see us ever parting, but I hate taking her out in the rain and felt the laminate stock might be more suited to tolerate such.

Bland?

In what way?

It's a superb gun for the money and I am not being paid by anyone to say that.
I saw your review ( both) along with three others all of you saying how good the gun was which is good to know but I don't really see why Beretta would class the 688 as a entry level gun as none of reviews would suggest that in terms of performance and handling and having owned a number of Beretta guns over the years starting off with a 680 30'', none of them are what I would class as an entry level gun. I enjoyed the review Lloyd, informative without drooling, just the way I like them. I will be having a look at one as soon as an rfd near to me actually bites the bullet and gets one on the shelf.

New to this forum, like it. Now looking for a 688 or 525SL, LGS says the Beretta comb cannot go low enough for me to fit. Need to find one to check. Both really nice guns I feel.

Have a look at the Browning XS Ultra Black Laminate too.
I have a 688 and I can get it to fit perfectly, my mate has the XS Ultra BL and that feels lower in the comb (to me).
