Not bothered about people talking around me. Shooting for me is a social hobby, enjoy the company as well as the shooting.

You’re right it is a social hobby , but it doesn’t give them right to spoil someone else’s enjoyment . All they have to do is keep the noise down when someone shooting . Iv been shooting for fifty years there no need to stand behind anyone jawing , just stand back . Again its in the cpsa etiquette booklet keep the noise down behind the shooter . Alternatively ask the ref to tell them , they have a duty as a ref . I have to say it doesn’t bother me at all but that’s not the point there’s lots of newbie’s about just keep it down 😀

I have used active over ears protectors for many many years and by far prefer the comfort of this type of defender. When I used to shoot competition, I would simply turn them off while I was actually shooting or when some smart arse was giving his estimation of how good each shot was from the guy shooting. Each to their own but in my humble opinion, active is more adaptable.

I love my Sordin Pro X cranked up waiting for the trap spring to twang . There’s nothing nicer after 50 years of shooting than being on a stand , and hearing my shooting being critiqued by a bloke who’s had his license for 4 weeks and is coaching 4 mates who’ve never even held a water pistol …. I like Chester’s STFU s approach very much !

Well said Martin

Never bother with competitions or CPSA registered shoots as It’s a day out with friends for me, so very much a social occasion and a bit of friendly chat is fun.

Weekend shoots are usually hedge row clubs, so not too formal. Also shoot during the month at Ian Coleys, E J Churchill and Holland & Holland, so get around a bit.
