Beretta dt11

About 2 and half maybe 3 years ago i saw a pre production 11 without the stripe which was given by beretta to a sponsored shooter who was one of our top young ish ot shooters to try. He had been shooting a 10 but really liked the 11 not sure how much they changed when it went to full production but i dont remember it being as heavy. I shot Ut comp with him and he blew us all away. Havent seen him since so no idea if he still has it or a production 11 or gone back to a 10.

I think he's using a MK38.

Many of the US Beretta sponsored shooters have or are having custom made stocks for their DT11's .

Feedback indicates that the comb height is too low, the grip is too thick and wrongly angled. 

Many with adjustable combs can be seen with them set very high.

 It is amazing how Beretta can make a cock up of the original DT10, invest time money and energy into getting it right, shoot off at a tangent with the Prevail and Silver Pigeon xxv or is it just up to number five now?  Then make about six variants of semi auto , and finally launch the DT11 with so many controversial features. Which ever way you read British Proof Laws and spin the wording it is my belief that the DT11 does not comply with British Proof Law as it is written.

Interesting stuff salopian. Yes its widely known about the very low comb. A certain dealer got to the point of having adj combs retro fitted before they even went on the shelf.

Ps. Do you know the young shooter i refered to ? Did you see the pre production one he had ?

If your right about the proof and your not the only one to think that then how has it got through, and exactly what is the issue in your opinion ?

Comb is too low, I have big hands, the grip suits me, if I had small hands or were a woman it would be too thick, as for British proof laws, they are outdated...for once being part of Europe is an advantage...and it's not just Beretta owners who chose to have custom stocks fitted to there guns...even our own Nicola has a custom stock on her Perrazi!!!

To add about the comb height, I phoned GMK about the comb height and asked him why they chose to order all the sporter DT11's in the lower of the two comb heights offered by Beretta, I was told by a plonker in sales, "well, sporters are supposed to shoot flat...aren't they?" True story!

This is true, off the peg anything will suit some exactly and not others thats the nature of off the peg. My Eell is off the peg and like you is also a tad lower than i would like but you adapt, the grip is also bigger than the std dt but i dont find it a problem. You are correct on custom stock all top shooters have stock fitted and many "normal" shooters also. Cant comment on the proof thing as i have no knowledge of such things. In time beretta will probably change the dimensions to suit more people more of the time once they get feedback.

Moving on from stock which we know is low for most but as not say can be remedied how do you find the over bored aspect as in is there a notable difference with recoil etc if so then that is a good thing for second barrels ? Also do you find the extra weight from the action steadys the swing, i do with the Eell

Recoil is very tame, much, much less than my 325, I've shot 50 50gm BB's at Geese through the DT11 and it's amazing how smooth those Clever's are to shoot, cant tell if it's the gun or shell!?!?

The swing is very steady, i picked up my 325 that I,ve had for 18 years last week and it feels ailian to me now, really weird!!! The DT11 defenently needs a very 'deliberate' style compaired to the 30" 325...does that make sence!?!?

the trap comb was fine for me, if a little high.

yes that makes perfect sence my Eell is exactly the same, totally different to the std dt i think its because of the extra weight on the action and therefore between the hands that your and mine have that the std 10 does not. From a trap perspective yet have to push through unlike the std 10 which is much more lively and would be way in front if you adopted the same style.

funny bit is, we buy a gun for how it feels (irrespective of whether it fits or not). then you change the stock and the handing characteristics of the gun change totally... the irony...

well the Eell was the only gun i have ever bought that i knew was lower than i usually prefer. Luckily all other beretta have been right for me some were adj of course but i mean the fixed ones.
