Great 3pts £60 fine for doing 5mph over the new suggested motorway speed of 85. What I didn't need was interrogating about what I had in the boot or my legally held guns.
So you were doing 90 which is 20 mph over the current speed limit.

Although they say don't quote me, Speed Awareness Courses say speed limit plus 10% plus 5 = 82 is the present limit!

If they say you were doing 90 then you were probably doing a bit more as speedos tend to exaggerate!

I would suggest that that was asking for trouble and 3 points and £60 was a cheap result.

Was it a marked or unmarked police car?

robert

I think it is 10% plus 3 mph. Forgive my pedantic reply.

that's what I was told on my awareness course Robert. I was aware of only one thing during the course and that was I had better things to do with my day.

I know for a fact if the police are called to your house it flags up as a gun owner automatically

correct

and depending on the reason armed responds in attendance.

I detect a bit of Snopes  here :),

Lots of unsubstantiated stuff, but little facts!

If i drove past an ANPR camera, it would tell plod some info about the registerd keeper...  Mrs Santa.

No link to me or any of my licences..... even if stopped, they still dont have a link to you until you give your details.

I know plod places markers on vehicles that have been involved in drugs or robbery offences, but again its only the vehicle.

Until you get a tame fed to give definitive data, then its Snopes :)

:santa: x
Sorry to disagree, but I KNOW that these vehicles are used by the Serious Rumour Squad on a regular basis !

It maybe coincidence, but every time I drive through customs at whichever port I choose I always get pulled to one side to drive through the "shed"

Now I know when my passport details are inputted into the database it flags up a firearms licence holder and one of the first questions I get asked is "do you have any blah, blah, blah, firearms, blah, blah, blah" To which I normally reply without getting arsey "I would declare them if I had"

Also there was an incident at my parents house where some scrotes were damaging cars and in fact broke a window on the house...I've never seen three Police cars turn up so fast - literally minutes after I put the phone down...apparently other neighbours who had reported the incident were told someone would be along shortly and would they like a crime number? Wierd huh?

Tell them you are going on holiday and there are firearms in the house, so if the alarm goes off to get their arse round pronto.

You get excellent service !! It's not all bad...

I got pulled over a few weeks ago by the police whilst carrying my shotgun, he walked to my open window, thrust his hand in and shouted papers!

i quickly brought my hand up in a snipping action, shouted "scissors, I win" and drove off!!!!?

It either came up on the police nick nick device in the car or they radioed the details in whilst they were chasing me down the M23 like a criminal for my first ever motoring offence in 40 odd years. Yes Ian I'm squeaky clean full CRB or whatever it's called now. Points come of any day now after 3 years, but still count on insurance for 5. How fairs that. So yes that's another member of the shooting fraternity that's never going to ever do another police shoot which incidentally they get paid for doing.

Big brother is watching you, easy targets we are.
your insurance company loads the premium for 3 points...have had 6 on mine with no increase!

Yes. Admiral. It even asks you on form if you have been on a driver awareness course. Went up about £25.00 per policy.

By law you have to tell them for 5 years but they come off license after 3 years.

To be honest I've had a good run, I don't hang about, and they need the money just another form of tax. Just did not like the way I got nicked in an unmarked silver Audi estate.

You were lucky as they are all at it now.

The simple answer is not to put yourself in the situation which could lead you to receiving a fine, or other form of tax, i.e don't speed. It's no one else's fault other than the driver of the speeding vehicle, we all know the speed limits. It's the government that make these laws, the police just have to uphold them, regardless of wether they agree with them or not.

it is rather silly at times the main A road that leads to our country lane is 30 our single track (effectively) country lane of just under one mile long with one passing place is 60 the unadopted road that is two hundred yards long serving us and four other properties has no enforcable speed limit ?

all makes sense.... Not.

ps

anyone stupid enough to do 60 down our country lane deserves to lose there licence.

I wonder if a 'Driver Awareness Course' makes you more aware of what is behind you ?
Possibly not, but I bet a hefty fine given out by an unmarked silver Audi Estate (other colours are available) gives you a nervous twitch about looking in your rearview mirror?

Probably make you more likely to crash into something infront now? And they say it's in the interests of road safety?

i drive an "unmarked" silver 5 series estate...its amazing what it does for lane hoggers when they see it in the mirror

no but it makes you aware that you are paying to listen to 95% tosh...i am hugely aware that it is a cash generating scheme
