"how to replace firing pins in a Miroku/Browning shotgun"

You can see how to do it by going to www.shotgunworld.com gunsmithing replacing browning firingpins

And if anyone does it - can I suggest some photos or better still a video along the way?

Make sure it is set up so that we can see the face and the hands, so we can see the expressions and be able to see if you find a difficult bit.

Meh - I can *read* sarcasm you know... but you'd be surprised how many people search for "replacing xxx part on my beretta/browning/miroku" whatever and end up at my site... so maybe some of the less able people would like some info.

Hopefully it will be placed on the main page then, like some of the reviews you said you were going to choose from the members of the site but only put your own on??!!

Maybe something new and interesting will come soon from some people? Is getting a bit boring lately. Think we need the season to get going to get some quality info on here as it has now come to looking at how many shot is in a cartridge, to recoil pads with hammer tests and now inserting firing pins! LMAO! :D :D :D :D

You say `boring` but I may use a range of hammers. See, variety! ;)
You have MORE than one type of hammer? Seriously - my man-skills are very lacking... I either use a claw-hammer - or the side of a pair of pliers, for everything. Those are the only things that you get in an Ikea toolset.

Of course the hammer selection may be academic if the stock gets caught in the belt sander and flies across the room, with some of my teeth attached to it..

. Will.

All I can say is if a girl can do it........I am sure all you big strong men can do it.

I 'want' to see the video but 'warts and all' as a famous pinger said recently. ..

So please Mr De Milne....... make sure you get the faces.....and the anguish.....and the title......'one has to suffer for ones sport'!!!

The link I gave you on shotgunworld has photographs.

It is a very easy job to do.

First open the fully assembled gun to cock the hammers.

Then close the gun, remove forend, detach barrels.

Remove but butt pad.

Release stock bolt, this could have a 12mm hex head or 6mm socket head, do not fully unscrew stock bolt until you have released (loosened) stock from head of action, then fully remove stock bolt and remove stock.

You will then see the firing pins , just forward of the hammers which should be in the cocked position.

The firing pins are retained by dowel pins fitted into holes in the action just beneath each firing pin, tap these out from left of action out towards right side.

This allows firing pins to come out. Bottom pin has a coil spring.

Clean, inspect, replace all parts, job done.

I shall investigate my pins this evening. My man skills are reasonable high so this should be a walk in the park :)

LMAO :)

I'm looking forward to providing my non pitted 391 firing pin to Clever for the metallurgy testing to find what they are made out of :)

As Clever, I also have a collection, 4oz claw and ball pein, 8oz fibreglass shaft claw, 12oz ball pein and a 4lb club hammer... All have their uses, how many chef's have just one knife?? Not to mention light weight tack hammers. Put it this way, you wouldn't tackle a steak with a teaspoon or an axe would you :)

Jon.
