Ut thread still locked. Don't know what all the fuss was about personally.

Yeah mate some stuff taken out of context some other stuff said and was taken wrong way even some stuff meant as a joke nobody really in the wrong to my way of thinking just crossed lines. Then mods locked us down before it got hand bags at dawn. And no mate none of down to me :)

Me No Go there ips ! I have done a little research on the shooter in question though he is indeed fairly average, finished 139 th in the French UT national championship 2013 and seen many other comps where he has been mid pack this year. I did not see any of last years results could he maybe have had a better 2012 season and is competing off last years standings? He did shoot well in this competition though had one really bad round a 22. I think that is what the guys at the club were commenting on at that point he had hit 75ex75 which I think surprised them as when I asked about him the said he was "un tireur moyenne" I still wondered if they meant for an international but 139 in the national UT is not setting the heather on fire. Any how I out shot him twice at ten straight ABT so there :)

i think its great when a relatively unknown shooter does well it proves that if you come good on the day you can win ... End of.

Gives hope to us all. Also worth mentioning is that it doesn't matter a hoot what anyone did last season or last week only thing that matters is the score on the day. One of the great things about most shooting disciplines is that they have open events were you pay your money same as the top shooters then you do the best you can alongside the best. i hope all the French shooters at his local club by him a bottle of the very best champers.

ips agreed... don't think it will be me anytime soon! Mind you its club end of season 50 ABT shoot on Saturday my first 25 straight twice !... well I can always hope ha ha! I will be trying though!

you have beaten the bloke in question before so as you say all you need is 2x straights on the day believe me its do able, some days it all just clicks the only thing separating good shooters from great shooters is the latter click more often. Every dog and all that

I wish I could click more often at OT mate! I think I had a batch of RC superniks that didn't have any shot in them! Well its a reasonable enough excuse! ;-)

IPS there is a new thread for the UT. Jon asked me to post it last night. For the sake of all doubt...it is a congratulations thread.

For me the real thing is I love shooting but I don't think enough about my setup just before my first round. An example was on Saturday I shot the first round and although the conditions were testing I shot 14 and was very down cast and knew that I was doing something wrong my sight picture looked right and it felt right when I took my shot but the result was less pleasing. Any way the old gent who is an ex French trap champion is sitting watching me and I turn to him and in my best French enquire if he can check my gun mount for eye alignment. He just smiled and said it was not that it was the fact I was lifting my head. He the stands and asks me to mount the gun and says "impeccable" now I want you to force yourself to hold your face on the gun like that, when you see the clay do not move it swing the gun as part of your body and then shoot. What a difference next three rounds were 18s as opposed to 14! He then says on a day when the conditions are good for seeing the target that would have been 20+ but you must concentrate when you mount your gun and make sure you don't move you head a certain miss otherwise! Going to give it some serious concentration on Saturday!
