there is a problem with this theory....as part of the cartridge tests I am doing for clay shooting I give away a load of shells for people to try each nmonth and get their feedback on. However its fascinating to see how different people rate the shells, for example I have already had several shooters say that cartridge x was by far the softest of the bunch while others said it kicked like a mule!!! it depends as already mentioned on the individuals build, propensity to feel recoil, gun weight, barrel length, is it back bored etc etc.....the only real answer is to find one that suits you and your gun!

They are a brilliant shell.

I was going to use them when our game came down from 36grm to 28grm a couple of years ago.....but then they developed a new one for me that was just for the job.......so I never tried the SS's in international competition.

They gave great kills in practice though. I am sure you will enjoy them.

People - I have removed two personal insults from this thread. Would prefer that we kept it on topic, and if people want to disagree that we keep things civil.

Next time, I'll just delete the posts. Please DO NOT do it - we have enough problems in shooting without ShootClay becoming a home for arguments

Don, my "cartridge poll" was never intended to be the definitive guide to clay pigion cartridges, I also thought it would be interesting to see how others rate shells!!! What you do get is a general "feel" for what shells people are happy with or what they are not happy with. It may just weed out the bottom 10-20% of under performing/heavy on recoil shells without ever having had to buy/try them first :)

No personal insult in my post......just a Freudian slip..................... ..................

Note to self.......I must not type what I am thinking........

Nicola, you were crying about someone getting "personal" with you a few days ago. I'll let it slide this time,
I know you do not know me but crying is not something I am known for ...........................

fair comment, though to be fair, there arent really that many "bad" shells out there anymore.....though I do miss the old Baikal Record for sheer entertainment value and as someone has already mentioned please please please will one of the cartridge manufactuers start packaging their shells a la Rottweil Special Mk11 200 carry box style, it was a wonderful bit of thinking!!!

Right - I'm filtering out 'Laugh Out Loud'

oh dear...methinks people have been sniffing fired paper case shells again....more than a little addictive....and seemingly mind altering to boot.....;)

they should bring out the old Danarms again, loosely boxed and with a big silver dollop of paint as the shot size was incorrectly printed :) good shells them was.

Don, do please post some of those sample cartridges my way :)

For me the worst cartridges I have EVER used were the NSI Prima's 28g fibre, I gave a couple to Bob_P to try so see if it was me being sensitive and the recoil was that bad he didn't get on the second bird of a simmo pair.

Put it this way, i'm 6' 4" and over 20 stone and shoot an AL391 gas semi auto with a dead mule recoil reducer and a 20mm Kick-Eeze and they still knocked me about, great value but if you don't like recoil don't go near them!

Jon.

I do believe local gunshop has Danarms for sale £140 a thousand but then we only just had electric installed :)
