Are grounds flexible enough with current methods of getting hold of winnings?

I think its working fine generally at the moment. Apart from a few exceptions, prize money is distributed in a fair and equable manner to the satisfaction of all concerned. I think you are looking for a problem where none (or little) exists. The better grounds have an interest in seeing that prize money gets to those who have won it, after all, we want people to return.

Completely agree with most of that, but I don't think I'm looking for a problem - I'm reflecting the fact that a few people have outlined their concerns and trying to get them into a more constructive conversation.

If you have a good chance of winning Score and you have to leave the shooting ground why not leave a phone number and sort out when you can pick up winnings or how you can be paid

just out of interest how long do you hang onto prize money at wylye, i,ve lost money in the past as have my mates (not at your ground) but to be honest i,ve never rang a ground to sort any other means of collection.

For ever may be an exaggeration but for a long time. Then it goes to the NSPCC.

Yayhey.....someone is awake!!!

And prize money is not part of sales or grounds income :D :D :D :D :D
I have no intentions of divulging any further information about my business but all I can say is that it is very different to yours.

The old ignore button is going to take a hammering over the next few days I fear!

If I can be of assistance here. When this was discussed at Board level during my time it became apparent that some smaller grounds operate on certain types of bank accounts that only allow a certain number of cheques per month. That is why some cannot post cheques to people who do not collect their winnings on the day.

However postal orders or bank transfers could be possible I assume although I have not asked? Data issues ? Depends how much you want your money.

Safest thing would be to keep it until the winner next arrived and not to put a time limit on it.
In this day and age it is hard enough for anyone to accept or write cheques, they are getting a thing of the past. This is my opinion, partly in agreement with you.

Winnings should be kept by the host ground with no time limit, this would also encourage the shooter to return to the shoot again and hopefully put money back into the sport again. this is only my opinion, don't string me up!

This is what I try to do, leave the money at the ground as it means a subsidised shoot for me next time I go.

Put a couple of month time limit on it then I will be wanting it posted to me.

absolutely bang on ... :D

the amount lost by myself is a small amount £30 or £40 but with fuel and shells plus entry it cost me around £80 to not get it.
Jim I totally agree with your comment, I've won my class there also, I traveled 2hrs to shoot enjoyed shoot etc, went back 4months later, to be told money gone charity it's a joke, not even free shoot, I haven't experienced that anywhere and I shoot a lot grounds, and they still have winnings after months, this wasn't explained at registering also or when I went some few years ago, haven't been back since, but if do will go later if I'm lucky, but what price for a cheque absolute joke, took my money quick enought though, Southdown 3hrs for me and guess what sent in post, not rocket science !!!

calm down Chipper! Did you not read the rules of the ground when booking in, or just presumed the money would be kept by for your next visit? I do presume you are talking about 4C's again? Sorry if you are not. Stew

I must confess I never even seen any rules that's why shocked when went back ? I would of been happy if told on entry, and no I'm not thick far from it ., like I said great ground but would go back later so if lucky pick up my winnings ! But in reality it shouldn't be like that stew, i pay loads people by cheque costs me first class stamp !! And yes if I had known I would of phone saying can it b sent ! This method of charity is bizarre if I had known again I would of chose charity of my choice.

fair play to you Chipper.

What about if I throw this one in the fire to all of you, including Jimmy French.

Would shooters be happy with free entry to future comps with their winnings at those grounds, 1, 2 or 3 free entries depending on the grounds payout obviously. Or do most shooters want cash? Free shooting for future comps may even help the grounds with their own cash flow issues in the present economic climate!

All you Bounty Hunters, I'm listening (or Matt, should I shut up?) Stew

Yep Stew I would of been over the moon if they said that, i.e we used money but u got free shoot, let's b honest if we went shooting for financial winning we wouldn't chose this sport ! But free shoot happy days :)

I think that the free shoot would suit a lot of shooters. The cost of fuel to get to the shoots and cartridge prices the main cost now, not the price for actually shooting.

What else could you want, competition targets, a group of friends taking the piss out of you when you miss and it gets worse the harder you try. Quality!

Stew.
