Don't even contemplate closing it without the lever open..the strain on the top-lever casting snaps it. Yes I have. And don't bother asking Mauro Perazzi if you can have it open to full gape without pulling - he won't allow it.
I've read elsewhere that you shouldn't close the gun with the lever un-cocked for that very reason. I've also been told to close the gun gentle, no slamming for the same reason.

There is a thread on an American Perazzi website where some extoll the virtues (even the main Perazzi importer - can't remember the guys name) of holding the lever open when closing the gun and then letting it across once its closed to reduce stress on the lever mechanism!!  Sounds like a load of bollox to me.

40UP, you have to explain the the second part of your post? Are you saying that action needs to be pulled fully open rather than just falling fully open?

A lot of arm waving was involved.

I love it when Italian guys do that!  I know quite a few.

Arms raised and waving  "Blah BLAH?" "Ah?"  "Blah blah..blah blah blah...blah blah!"

So funny...

@Dog Tyred.  yes mate, open the lever and pull the barrels down with the other hand.  If they ever drop open, the gun needs help.  Perazzi are a man's best friend...really...not loose.

For an expensive gun it sounds as if the quality is not there to me what with cast metal fittings that break!
The bottom of the top lever (!) has a small section on it, that acts against the H Block, which isn't designed to work against the top lever spring pressure.

So you are using a very long lever (barrels) to compress a very strong spring, with a small lump of steel, that is designed to move another small piece of steel, against not much spring pressure...quality is not the issue...it would be abuse :)

When the gun is open as above, you can't quite drop the bottom cartridge in because it hides behind the breech - you have to pull the barrel down against slight resistance. Mr P prefers it that way.

Skeet UK: that was very nicely put.

We're in Ferrari land on this not Deutschland.

Thought that's what you meant. Mine works fine then. In fact is so stiff I have to pull the thing open from almost fully closed. Arghh the joys of a new gun :)

yes its safe to say they arnt the strongest things ever built, but they do shoot nice.

Not as the guy at Rugby that I mentioned earlier. He was putting it back on his toepad to prise it open. But even when he'd fired only one barrel..

Hi Nic, yes I'm a light oil man. Mrs P of your acquaintance may have loose bowels. But Mauro won't have it - no full gape no way.

Whoops, I keep getting mixed up with DT. Gunsmiths are just showing off when they joint them so tight. "It'll be all right in 12 months."
