The topic title says it all. I hear the CPSA are putting the price of membership up from the 1st January? To my mind, it's already expensive.

Can anyone confirm this and, if so, by how much?

If the price does increase i'll look at joing the Scottish or Welsh equivalent. They seem to offer the same benefits and the CPSA do.

Where have you heard it, nothing on their site ?

Not really expensive when you look at the overall cost of shooting and when you consider what you get for it. Monthly mag, insurance, web site with all the info on, your averages worked out and a classification, major events organised etc etc.

Cpsa bashing has been going on as long as i can remember but people still take out there membership...funny that.

Current full memnership is £62 per year(£1.19 per week) according to the website(join us)

If the price went up to £65, is £1.25 per week expensive for insurance, pull mag(not exactly brilliant),major competions organised etc.

If you think it is carry on and join the scottish or the welsh.

£62 is expensive for what we get in return. The insurance cover is something 99% of us will never use, PULL! magazine is top heavy with advertisements and not particularly informative. Averages are worked out by computer with the onus for inputting the scores now falling upon the ground rather than the CPSA. Don't forget, those of us that wish to represent our country have no choice but to be a member.

I would be interested to know how much membership to the Scottish or Welsh equivalent costs? I know several shooters living in England that have joined yet still participate without impediment in local, regional and national events.

62 thats equivalent to one 100 bird shoot.

Welsh is £55 and Scottish is £47 per year so your saving £7 and £15 per year respectively, a huge saving by anyones measure ! :/

With savings like that i'll book hols to barbados ;)   :D

I hope that iam one of the 99% that will never have to use the insurance as well.

And god help anybody that accidently injures someone and you are not covered that may work out a bit more expensive than £62

It's not just a question of  cost but i believe the (our) CPSA should raise more revenue by investing time and money into getting more shooters to join instead of raising revenue by keep charging existing members more , as it would appear the amount of members has remained around the 25-27,000 members for the last 20 plus years . it would be interesting to know the relation between  members and new  SGC holders over the last few years .

I think the last I heard over the Membership remaining static for 20 years was quite simple. We gain say 300 new members per year, but the lack of takeup by existing members is around say 300. So +300 and -300 and the status quo remains.

For me personally the insurance alone is worth the money both me and my wife shoot and a joint membership is reduced in price and whilst the free magazine is hardly war and peace its got information that is relevent and i always look forward to it dropping through the door, one days registered shoot for us both i.e entry, cartridges, food, coffee and travel   is the same as a years membership plus other benifits for me its a no brainer :)

Just seen the latest on CPSA website, looks like they raised it £1 for membership.

Life membership went up £150 from 850 to 1,000

I knew the decision to get a life membership would pay off eventually! :)

A pound a year thats outrageous, thats equivalent to one cup of tea per year. I dont know how they get away with.

Thats an outrageous £1.21 per week, shocking, thats the equivalent to just less than a litre of fuel, half a coffee from Starbucks, 2 first class stamps, 2 bags of crisps, almost half a pint of Carling, a third of a service station sandwich etc, and for what a magazine, a number, and a measly liability insurance of £10m please stop me if you think I'm sounding a bit sarcastic but i cant believe this thread actually exists, we spend thousands on guns, god knows how much on entry fees and begrudge £1.21 per week incase we accidentally shoot someone, unbelievable!!!!
