I got in touch with the SW region secretary to ask a few questions and was advised of the above which is to be held at the George Albert Hotel, adjacent to Southern Counties Shooting Ground, at 8pm and the meeting will have in attendance:-

  • Terry Bobbett - CPSA Chairman
  • Kevin Newton - CPSA SW Region Director
  • Nick Fellows   - CPSA CEO
Questions will evidently be welcome!

Why bother, there about as much use as an Ash tray on a motorbike  :haha:

Try asking them about the legal expenditure this year, or the East Midland Region complaint, or John Hall Say....or the new proxy vote form and why it is needed.....or even why after the membership voted against NED's at the last AGM, they now want them again......then finish of with asking if they have had a skill set audit of the Board yet.

With all that lot you might get one answer......'no' to the skill set one.

If you have really really experienced shooters there who know the score you could ask whose daft idea it was to agree with No18 of the ISSF GB team selection procedures....if they had not gone home by then. You see it affects the SW region for two reasons....

firstly both CEO and Chair sit on BICTSF to protect the CPSA's interests and their shooters and secondly because we have a lot of GBR shooters and potential shooters in the SW.

Then report back how successful you were with simple questions......

cannot wait

Sounds like a very entertaining evening, sadly I will be in Paris with work, but can I nominate Nicola to go in my place .

Absolutely. The money spent on the Colin Butler incident is downright disgraceful. Anyone that doesn't know how they operate simply wouldn't believe it's true.

Sssssssssssh .

Now you have upset them.

You know we are not allowed to talk about this.

Our pictures will now be plastered on the naughty wall at HQ accompanied by much wailing and crying.

You should know that we can only ask the nice questions where the answers have been pre prepared.....!!!

Naughty boys and girls..!

Just finished a bowl of Bobbett Flakes, ( they don't get much more flakier than him).

A Regional AGM is not the place to discuss the East Midland debacle, it is not for the memberships interests to know how inefficient we can be with your money.

If we want to change a protocol and proxy forms we will and be damned with democracy and articles and anything else, we have money and we will waste it if we want to.

If we want to elect our friends onto the Board to get heir nose in the trough we will, what would the membership know about such matters? Most members are brickies or labourers and know nothing, so it's easy to pull the wool over their eyes, talking of wool, they will all follow like sheep anyway so why does Nicola keep inciting them? Is she a Sheperdess?

The John Hall Say  debacle is dead and not for public debate especially here in the SW AGM where John may have friends. No Comment.

As for a Board skills audit, we haven't done one yet as we don't have anyone with that skill set, that is why we require free rein to elect who we like.

Nicola I find your questions to be  very negative, disruptive and difficult to answer honestly, could you please stop inciting the membership into a revolt.

They are revolting enough.

Now all run along and play nicely.

L. O. L.

You forgot to mention Jethro

Oh Salop you made me laugh with that one.....they are pinning your name on the naughty wall as we speak.

Wait a minute......!!

Where is that awful whine and that nashing of teeth coming from ....... ??

Oh they must have had the email that we received at our Berkshire committee meeting last night.....!!

I liked the saracasm and humour in this post but the point that I have quoted does not seem to be right.

All the CPSA directors are unpaid volunteers and the duties and responsibilities of being a director, let alone the time that they have to devote to the job, far outweigh any reimbursed expenses that they might claim for travel and accommodation in the course of their duties.

Frankly its a thankless task and in a way we are lucky to have people to volunteer to do the work even if they might not do it to the high standards expected of them by the "experts".

Being new, I know none of the history or the alleged debacles of the past but in general terms the sport seems to be in reasonable health with plenty of competitions and a working handicap system, the website is informative and pretty comprehensive, we have a good insurance policy and membership seems to be holding up.  Nothing is ever perfect in life but I would imagine that the majority of the membership would say that the CPSA is satisfying their requirements.  Also I don't know and have never ever met any of these people in case anyone thinks I'm speaking on their behalf.

A question for everyone on here - If asked to give marks out of 10 what would you give and why if you are going to mark them down?

Ahh, Robert...you are a character!!! I find it very interesting how you can't see the "trough" that they feed from, you almost have me crying for the unpaid volunteer directors...ever ask your self why some of them fight tooth and nail to continue as unpaid (sniff) volunteers? (sniff)

When your are new to something...sometimes it's better to listen than talk, observe rather than question, at least wait until you know and understand what you are commenting on... :D ;)

I'm just trying to take an impartial stance.  I only have hearsay on any of this.

Oh and I'm sure that some people take these jobs for the power and the glory if that answers your question.

If that floats their boat but they get the job done then fine by me.

Robert, you could ask you questions at your County AGM, they are also unpaid volunteers.

It will be likely that they will have Regional Representation, that will provide an update and take opinions and view back to the regional Committee.

Thanks FieldandClay.  I did start with an email to my county reps and got invited straightaway to the Regional AGM!

Perhaps they are hoping for a new volunteer like at most AGM's!

Keep listening and more importantly learning Bobby. It is a very big tangled mess and involves more than cpsa. It would help if remits were firmly defined.

I cannot remember if you are a NRA member or an NSRA member. How do you think your lot are run. (yes this is a test to see if you know your own sport)

(wink - with love)

NSRA but the NRA has also had its problems such treating site caravan rents as being payable on an honesty basis and not chasing defaulters.  Both organisations have been ripped off by past top people at the expense of the membership.

They are all comparable to MP's - they're all over you when when they want your votes and then do completely their own thing once elected.  Why do they think they should not communicate!  Lack of communication is probably one of the worse sins in the modern age in business or otherwise.

The NSRA are infuriating for the Board not telling the membership what the membership want to know e.g. Cancelling the 50 metre championships at the Malcolm Cooper Range at the LRC probably because there was a big Asian wedding to cater for or because somebody forgot to book the range and Asian weddings take priority because they are good money earners!  Why not be open and tell us rather than just re-book such a prestigious event in the "off-season"!
