Dear Clayshooter,

It is with extreme regret I have to report that Dave Hopley has been killed in a car crash on Wednesday night.

Dave was a great bloke, a lovely man, a good competitor who loved life , and  clayshooting.

Always ready with a smile and encouragement, never down, and if he was having a bad shoot would only be too ready to offer you words of encouragement and not to make the silly mistake that he had just made. A really lovely man, I and many others in Shropshire will miss him and mourn his passing.

 Peter Harris  AKA Salopian

Although not known to me my condolences go to his family. RIP.

Very sad news indeed as this is the second person associated with our sport to be killed in a road accident in three days.

Condolences to the families of Dave Hopley and Frank Hart the gunsmith from Norfolk whose death in a car accident was also reported on here last Friday.

R.I.P.

Hi, I am Amanda Hopley - David Hopley's daughter. I am wondering if anyone who knew Dad might be able to help us - we are currently writing the eulogy/tribute which will be read at Dad's funeral on Tuesday, and we are looking for a few things - the background details about Dad's shooting history, a sense of how he was regarded by others and any funny anecdotes or stories that anyone might have of him. If anyone could get back to me with some details - even if it is the name/contact details of someone else who might be able to help - it would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for the kind wishes that have already been left on this forum, Best Wishes, Amanda   Tel: 01948 710 228
