Darkside

i am not having a go you are just paranoid. My reference to my mate as you put it is a very very well respected top trap shooter who usually shoots a 10 and that is what if reported. I know him personally but his above comments were given to a close friend of mine. All i said was to try a few differed ones to find one that suited the gun.

You really must lighten up and pay more attention to exactly what is written without taking every comment about 11s as a personal attack. most people on here have a politeness about them, you are the exception.

Double post

If you want a really nice to shoot fibre wad shell that really shoots well in DT11's, try Clever Mirage T2 fibres...
oh dear.

A contradiction i just cannot let go.

1st you say 11 will shoot any cartridge then make reference to one that shoots really well through the gun therefore implying that you can tell the difference.

I rest my case m lud

Rest what case you twit!?!? Fibre wad shells tend to be punchy, some are not, Clever fibre T2's are the smoothest fibre wad cartridges I've try'd, they pattern great and I know they really do shoot well in a DT11...because I have one...and I shoot T2 fibres (when I must use fibre wads, gamefair ect)...so, I can recommend them, for what that's worth!!! Contradiction...none.

Oh dear. I haven't the time or inclination to explain my friend.

A twit, i have been called much worse, and wasn't bothered then.

You love a good verbal scrap don't you me old pal, and so do i the difference is i can do it with a degree of decorum and politeness were as you seem to struggle with the concept. All good fun never the less :)

You really are lots of fun i bet you would even like me in real life :)

Guys this post was to help Kasia (a new member to the forum)..... Not you you two to have a slanging match.

rob

I was helping its that darkside bloke he started it. :)

We are best pals really, honest :)

Poor show here guys.

Let's revert to topic if possible.

When I started shooting my club was fibre only.

I noticed some speed (gap) difference when shooting fibre to plastic.

Not sure on gun specifics though.

Rio Target Load 28g Fibre are a good cartridge and worth a try.

Extreme over bored barrels are bound to have an effect on ballistics as surely that is the point. Therefore it is fare to assume that said barrel could be a bit picky with cartridge choice. Some shooters of very high repute have commented on this and some have had no such experience. So as has been said kaskia needs to try a few different ones IMO.

Hello Kasia,  :)

If you noticed enough difference to feel compelled to post about it then I'd say there has to be a cause. It would be interesting if you shoot both guns again perhaps side by side on the same day and report back in case you just had an off day?!

As an aside I dislike 21 gram shells regardless of whether they're plastic or fibre, nobody is going to get violent breaks with these at much over 3 or 4 yards. Also as an aside I have shot the DT11 and the gun feels exactly as it should, it is not especially forgiving in other words, just a nice shooting gun because it's well proportioned/made and heavy.

Hi kasia I shoot a dt 11 and think it is a great gun. I find the breaks I get are distance are brilliant, having shot weston wood on Sunday I myself thought the targets were at a bit of a distance but they were very good.. I have shot a few fibres though mine and was not overly impressed but think it may have some truth about the overboard barrels. Many people have told me fibres dont work proply through the barrels...? I would agree with what most the others are saying that the 21g does probably give you a slight disadvantage due to the amount of lead in the air. I use 28g white gold plastics and think they are great through my gun, they feel soft and break targets at distance very well.. Try these try these and see what you think.. I think you may be better of using plastic when you can though.

How on earth can a 12 bore fibre wad expand to give a good gas seal in an 11 bore chamber?

I'm not convinced a plastic wad can do as good a job inside an 11 bore as it patently has for decades in a 12 bore !

Maybe someone needs to design a special wad specifically for such barrels.

I will endeavour to find out what cartridge the trap shooter i mentioned eventually found to work. As i know that his usual choice didnt work to well.

This could easily be confirmed by shooting a few through a crono. I have access to one so just need to find an 11

There is a difference between 21g fibre and 21g plastic for distant targets

I spoke to an Olympic trap shooter who was happily using 21g plastic for OT - 24/25 no problem.

He accidentally took out 21g fibre to use (they had been put in the wrong box) in the afternoon having shot well all morning, and couldn't hit a thing.

When he worked out what happened, he conducted a blind test. The 21g fibre just do not work at distance. 21g plastic, no problem. I used them for a while for fitasc and they could break anything.

21g also pattern very tight. You never want more than a half choke. Skeet/quarter is best on most average targets.

I suspect they may not suit the gun either. Combine the problems and that could give you a very bad day
