The other thing that's often overlooked in shells is the shot quality itself, perhaps more important than speed even?! There must be something to this antimony business, often I can see a difference in breaks but can't be sure which is that much slower, that must be due to the hardness of shot?

Nothing to do with that at all, its the colour of the case and the writing. Very important - in fact essential when choosing a cartridge.

You talk about the writing , does it need to be lower case or upper case ?

In principal you're actually more right than wrong.

Pay attention Brian, the writing needs to be on the case.

Eley Blues use slightly better components than Olympics, so one would assume that they are a better product. But in reality I doubt many of us could tell the difference in performance.

Blues are also available in fibre wad, but Olympics are only available in plastic wad.

Personally I think that Olympics are so good, I think that you will find that Eley will slowly increase the price of Olympics as I am sure that Olympics are beginning to make Superbs obsolete.

Please don't mention politics even in jest not unless you are talking about one particular English LADY.

For me living in Glasgow I prefer Blue shells, big brassy bits, the bigger the better, and I never shoot shells that come in a box with a wee bit of tape on the bottom. I also find that six crimps are give better breaks than those with five. And whatever you do, make sure once the shells are in the barrel that the name on the end cap is at the top, this is vital.

Chiefy :p

yep i can see olympics rocketing in price as there,s so many using them now instead of superbs,i still got about 5000 superbs here but never use them just olyimpics

Well if your not using them and giving them away Optima, I've got a big empty cupboard waiting for them.. :D

Nah, will be shooting skeet on Saturday with fibre 71/2s ;)

A good shot can use anything..

Using superbs on Crows!!! Sacrilege...

I used superb 7 1/2's for a few yrs then changed to Blue 7 1/2's, tried a slab of olympic's but went back to Blues, now on Pro one 7 1/2's

yea i,ve tried all them aswell and more, tried pro one,s couple months back but went back to olympics, nothing to do with cost just like the olympics.

I thought the Olympics gave great pattern's , as good as the Blue's , but the Blue's were smoother. Pro one's, great pattern and even smoother.

Funny how different people see things differently, the only reason i,ve tried other shells was my quest for less recoil, and the pro one,s were definetly more thumpy than olympics in my eyes, and kills were no better either, tried some clever shells recently and found they thumped like hell

I was surprised you thought Clever were thumpy, I find them very smooth!?!? F/blacks and black Golds give a bit of sharp recoil, by far the worst I've shot at clays were some fiber wad D&J
