Eley Superbs for £189 for 1000.

I think thats very very resonable considering I have previously paid £196.

Apparently the price has been reduced.

That's a good price and in my opinion about all there money having used them for some time only moving away since the crazy price increase, I do believe they have lost out to the rise in popularity of the likes of Fiooooooochi incidentally I have been using top 1 fiooooochis and for an entry level shell am most impressed having used them last week at southdown shooting some long fitasc stuff they made easy work of them.

so despite the price reduction I doubt I will be running back to the superbs in a hurry :fie:

+ 1 for Top One's and at £150 @1000 in Greenfields in Salisbury a BARGAIN....

Superbs are awesome shell. But like you say, price lift was crazy.

The Eley Olympic is a shell as good and is clean in the spouts.

Most of our forum gang shoot Olympics.

Bloody great shell for the money. Kills well at long range also.

when i started to shoot in 08/09 superbs were £90 here in NI   whats happened to the cost of shells why are they up in price so much ?

G'day.

I happily shoot Eley ammo down here in Oz .

Can I ask a question about your Olympic ammo over there .

I recently purchased a quantity of 28 gram 9 shot plastic wad Olympic  1358 .

Some slabs are red shells and some slabs are blue .

They are different lot numbers on the packets  lot 070 is red , lot 057 is blue .

Now I don't know if its psychological of what , but my Skeet scores are always better with the blue shells .

Do Eley change things around all the time or is this unusual ?

Even though these two shells are supposed to be the same load do you think they really are ?

I haven't patterned the two , but I do feel the blue ones are better in my gun  .

Any one know about this stuff ?

Ken

Olympics are only available in the UK in 7 1/2's and 8's and always in a blue case!

Strange that as I would like to shoot them in 9's.

I shoot Olympics £165 for a 1000, this week I had to buy firsts as they had no olympics left but the firsts were red instead of the normal black again don't know if it's psychological but I don't like them worst bit is I have over 750 left! going to order olympics again tomorrow

I have tried a box of olympics and find them a bit punchy for me.

Before Superbs I used to shoot Hull Pro one's and have also tried Express super comps, all three seem to be on par with each other with the exception being hull wich is significantly smoother than the other two.

I will sacrifice the smoothness for the difference in price approx. £26 per thou.

My gun is factory multi choked bottom barell and I use half choke, the combination of 7.5 superbs and half choke seems to work well even for ball trap and UT targets

therefore I am reluctant to change to another cartrige.

Was that 1908/9? I used to buy Superbs in 2006. They were £108, then nearer £120 soon after..
I stopped using them because they left loads of unburned propellant flakes around the gun action. I'm too fussy to have that crap worrying me so binned them. (Then I found that every other make of shell makes less mess in the forcing cones, so was glad I had changed).

If you want a shell that in a blind test you would think is a Hull Pro One, then it's a Clever T2, for about £25 less per 1000.

It was 2008/09 for certain, they went up to £95 per 1000 a short time after we'd shot a few thousand of them so we decided to shoot Olympics instead @ £80.

Thats interesting .So what do Eley offer in 9 shot over there ?[/quote

They offer 9's in all their other range, which includes First which is their cheapest range, then Blues, Superbs and VIP's in order of cost.

Olympics fit in between the First and Blues.

I use Fiocchi Top Ones in 9's which are a budget cartridge over here but very effective for close targets.

I usually shoot with Eley Olympics, but was given a couple of boxes of Superbs as a thank you.

The superbs shoot really well, but I cannot justify the £28.00 / 1000 price on teh Olympics.

I buy Olympics at £160.00 and when I put the lead in teh right places the clay breaks.

Top one are a far better cartridge than the price would have you believe.

Just Er saying :)

At the end of the day it is matter of personal choice and what you have confidence in.

At least thats one less thing playing on your mind.

I shot a Personal Best a couple of weeks ago with Superbs.  Good Cartridge.  I then went out the following week and beat my P.B. with Fiocchi Official Sporting and Golden Traps.  They are all excellent shells with Golden traps being my favourites for quality of breaks and low recoil.  Lower recoil and smooth shooting is very important to me and how they pattern through my gun.  But Golden Trap cartridges are about £220/1000.............
