I wondered whether anybody had any experience of using these ? I have heard they make the barrels very dirty, which is the trade off for reduced recoil if you can feel anything. Do they work/have some value or are they a triumph of marketing ? thanks

I use extended chokes to alter balance, nothing more. Have been given a few different ones to play with over the years but recoil never seems to alter. Rhinos were the worst; never got any decent kills with them.

Jus bought a pure gold one off BenW on here for my pigeon gun- seems to pattern very nicely. Will be using it for the benelli shoot on Sunday...

I had some Briley ported for my Browning, I bought them because I wanted ½ ½ in each barrel and the Browning Midas chokes weighed about 2 tonnes so thought they would be an improvement and bought 2 of them rather than 1 Midas.

I can safely say they are the first and last ported chokes I will buy, no reduction in muzzle flip or recoil but a right dirty mess between the top and bottom choke.

I shoot a pair of Ported 1/4 Rhino's in my 686 sporter and get great kills, never seem to need to change them, I use them for skeet too. They need cleaning well after every few hundred shots, oven cleaner works well.

Mick.

What....you are meant to clean them??? I thought they were supposed to look that colour :D

I suppose being an engineer I like mechanical things, so taking my gun apart to clean is no chore to me, kind of therapeutic, the final part of my day out shooting, If I wasn’t fiddling with that in the workshop it would be something else!! :.: :.:

I have used Briley Spectrums and am currently using Briley Helix ported chokes.

I have noticed no reduction in recoil but just wanted to even out what was added to the LOP. Warm water and white vinegar in the ultrasonic cleaner gets them sparkling.

They look nice and give good breaks ;)

I'm going to be trying some Muller chokes in the next few days which are extended but not ported.

Cheers,

Jon.

Jon, I would be interested to see how you get on with the Muller chokes as they look pretty good but I cannot seem to find any reviews on them anywhere.

We're just about to do a ShootClay test and review - hold tight till after the weekend!

first hand experience is that they are just like any other choke, i got rid of mine and went back to the standard factory ones

Hi Leon, they are due to land with me tomorrow and plan to try them out Friday.

Your input will be more than welcome to provide an impartial opinion on the breaks at Skeet and also on the compact. 10am is far to early for me due to traffic but if you guys could do say 11 for food that would be great :)

PMFB me ;)

Cheers,

Jon.

Jon,

Should be a few of us down there tomorrow, even the wife has the day off and has told me she is shooting too (there goes lads Friday.....).

I will try to leave it as late as I can, probably start shooting around 10.30, as I have some business commitments I need to get away for after the shoot but some of the others will probably be staying a little later.

Hope to see you there.
