Probably because they made lots of "specialist" stuff..military etc..like the SPAS 12

SPAS%2012.jpg

Not sure how good their sporters etc are though...certainly not common around clay grounds (AFAIK)

I was shooting with a lad that had one at the weekend, it seemed a nice piece of kit for the money. 30 inch multichoke sporter with ventilated mid rib.  Didn't manage to get a hold of it but it didn't look too offensive anyway.  Think his was an alliore sporter I believe.

Thanks , it comes part of a job lot I'm buying ...................

Franchi Falconette is nice. I've shot two and I looked to buy one at the time. Franchi Raptor was okay as semi, but I only used it for 30 cartridges.

I might be wrong but I think like most mfrs they make some "affordable" stuff and some "better" stuff. But don't quote me on it I may be wrong.

I've got a 25 year old Franchi 'Dominator' Trap gun (fixed chokes, full and 7/8

Don't think my model's made any more, but, it's got beautiful wood and great to use. If memory serves, they're now part of Beretta, whereas prior to that they were a family-owned concern. You can get their latest models through GMK

Not sure about their current models for Sporting (ESP) guns, but amongst the old-n-bold in the Trap game, they've got a good name.

Franchi is owned by Beretta, so I'd imagine they would be keen to ensure nothing left the factory that was sub standard. These guns are quite popular among game shooters in the States and are considered entry ish level guns for clays.

They used to make a decent trap gun years ago, I shot the 604 model which was sold as a Parker Hale.

franchi is owned by beretta who bought it because franchi had a patented rotating bolt head for the semi auto which made it superior to any beretta then available. the said bolt now on most beretta semi's is of that design. so in conclusion a franchi semi is a beretta semi without the price tag.. true story

Good point ...I,m buying it any anyway as a spare and the Silver Pig II Deluxe comes with it .thanks guys
