I bought a 4 year old well used Beretta gold e 32" sporter in 2003 for £1200. Used it for 13 years and approximately 120,000 shots, in that time nothing has gone wrong or ever needed repairing. Just sold it for £1100.

Can't go wrong really.

Mind you, not wanting to pee on your bonfire, but...

That £1200 you spent in 2003, would be the equivalent of around £1760 today.

Still, maintains good value, considering the use.
