just watched the grouse vid on double gunning thread. Flamin Eck that looks exciting stuff.

any info, discussion or tales on grouse shooting. Also how much is a day on average, I need some of that.

I think that driven Grouse was around £75 per bird last season, average bags 75 brace. I will let you do the maths, just sit down BEFORE you begin. I did have a few days on a small Yorks/Lancs moor, but that was many years ago 1970's and I was not paying. It was good and I got to shoot quite a few birds, but I shot a small driven Partridge  day on Thimbleby moor some years ago and found that to be every bit as good really.

If you can find the Jackie Charlton video for 'Jacks Game-Grouse', that was the Grouse moor that I was on.

When I shot the reg at Churchill's last week there was a big sign outside advertising 125 brace days at various counties for £18000 per day for a full team which I guess would be around 8-9 guns.

My dad's going on a 50 brace day, no overages in North Yorkshire in late November, 9 guns £1000 per gun. Experienced game and clay shot, but his first and probably last grouse day.

that's a great price Imo. Just looked at guns on pegs and 2k ish does seem the average BUT you have cartridges and keepers tip on top plus possibly loaders tip. With travel etc probably another £700 on top ???

one or two days a year = what you "could" pay for a holiday abroad. I know what I would rather spend it on.

Someone i know has just booked a 10 day trip to South Africa shooting anything up to 5 times a day. Rock Pigeons, Doves, Egyptian Geese, Spur-wing Geese, Duck, Guinea Fowl, Francolin, Quail and Partridge...about 1800 quid plus flights and ammo.

Think i would rather do that,better weather to!
