I have aquired two Side by side J & W Tolley sidelocks. One in 12 and one in 20 gauge. I am really struggling for information on this old Birmingham Gunmaker. Having searched the old interweb and old reference books, I am lost. If anyone has any information about Tolley's can you point me in the right direction.

There is not much written about them, famous for wildfowling guns the name is now owned by Wisemans of Cannock, but the records were destroyed in the second world war. I will have a look and see what I have got.

Cheers for that, every bit of info helps. I have the Holloway and Naughton bits and when and where they were making guns and dates. I also know that their premises were removed by the Luftwaffe in 1941 ish, but little else. There is a huge ammount of information out there relating to just about every Brummie Gunmaker except the Tolley's, any of them. Every bit helps, please keep it coming.

could give john a call … http://www.johnforsey.co.uk/ .. as salopian has stated very popular among wildfowlers though in 8g + 10g .. don't know how much info he can give though he is a very big and experienced wildfowler and tolleys do go for good money in store

Cheers jinxy can I ask where your guys were at the Army interservice on Wednesday. I'm asking as skipper of the GB Fire Service Team and knowing that the Ambulance service used to be fairly active.

no m8. we had an invite to join the inter services which was our aim , sorted a ground out and all the other bits involved then when it came down to it only 4 people out of 40 would commit and totally let us down … wasn't happy to say the least. the inter services is a great league and hopefully one day we may join … though i think it would have to be a national ambulance team instead of just london

I think your right. We have to run a national team or there wouldn't be anyone shooting with the cuts and everything else thats going on. No one can get time off, transport or any funding. There used to be a huge Ambulance following, and If I remember rightly, you even had a shoot at a place in Devon, Ashcombe if the brain is working correctly. I would think that you would be more than welcome at the next one, sadly it's oop north at Beverley. Best of luck in trying to motivate the troops, if you need any info, give me a shout.

cheers for that .. yes i believe it use to be in devon and i have tried to find out who ran it and contact details but i think they are now retired and lost contact with people .. the cpsa stated we had to run a shoot day to be part of it as each service hosts / pays for a day which is fair enough .. but without the following and commitment from enough shooters then it just won't happen …. most people who came forward wanted things for free and unfortunately we aren't funded in anyway at all … the met and the forces has the best setup and we just can't match it …. but maybe one day we might get enough commitment ;)
