stupid thing won't let me reply / quote.

I remain totaly unconvinced that a couple of mm at the comb or 8" at 40yds has any perceivable effect other than in ones head. I have shot very high comb and very low comb both with equal effects at times and always shot at it not under it as some folk seem

john

personally I think comfort of gun fit is more important than a mm here or there on height but that's just my experience

wow

don't know what happened there previous post came from no were

The standard way of checking the comb height down here is to have the person look down the barrel and check for alignment etc , why? When you are looking at the target not down the rib when you shoot the target !

yes a common method But does not take dynamics of gun swing into account so not an exact science Imo.

As this isnt a trap thread, I'll say it: When shooting a long crosser (or similar) you are looking to the side of the gun - at the clay -not down the rib. It is up to ones spatial awareness to keep the gun muzzle on the line of the clay, as the two are not connected. Of course, its trickier than even that on loopers as the shooter must build in some curve to the line of the clay as well.

I would say exactly the same applies to an extreme angle crossing trap target in UT or  ABT I would say OT targets are a little bit different in that their origin is more central but still looking outside the gun as it were or at least that is the way I shoot them.
