shot this with my brother and a new shooter his first 100 birder
there was a bit of a breeze and intermittent sunshine that caused a couple of misses
a friendly welcome and a bacon roll and we set off. a good variety of targets nothing too distant or very fast other than a wind affected right to left battue at about 25-30yrds only missed one
there was also a low fast driven about 20ft above our heads which i missed the lot.. no suprise there and on another stand almost the same target from behind and only hit one
[still trying to get the finances together to get myself upto sporting targets and shoot driven only]. we only had two or three no birds and had practically no waiting time.
After the shoot Paul who runs it had me shoot a couple more driven but I need more practice. We then headed off to the Jolly Woodnman for a quick pint and to compare scores. Overall my focus was left in the car and i over led a lot of targets. The harder stands I scored better on but shot well below my average. On the plus side I helped the newbie around the course hit every target bar one stand,I took more pleasure from this than shooting the course myself.
As a few of us from the site are shooting FITASC soon I made a point of never premounting the gun and making sure the heel of the stock was in rright place, very tricky on a fast going away midi and the overhead from behind. Other targets I missed I dont think I was agressive/determined enough to break them and tended to over lead rather than just see it shoot it, hard to explain :???:
A good morning out and beats sitting indoors, Paul did a great job of providing a good mix of targets and I look forward to next month, only thing it clashes with Weston Wood which I am eager to shoot again
