I worked out why everyone wears shooting vests

Just put the required number of cartridges in the pouch + 3 more.

Most pouches are split in to two or three sections from what I've seen

Mine was a real cheap nasty basic thing so only had one pouch.

Sian, do you just fill up the pouch say 25 carts at a time or do you only put in your cartridges for the stand in? Also what pouch do you use and do you find it try`s to pull things down ?

I could put 50 or so cartridges in one part of the pouch if I wanted to but this would drag me down a bit and I don't need to fill it for ESP or Fitasc so I usually just tip half a box or a full box into my pouch for sporting or 30+ sportrap.  Mine is a sturdy but quite soft leather pouch and has a decent bit that a leather belt is threaded through.  I wear my pouch on the left side of  my body and I don't find it a nuisance pulling me down at all.  It was not that expensive and Tony ordered it off the internet, same as his one which he has had for years and years.  I will take a picture of it when I get home tonight and post on here for you.  Tony might remember the cost of it.

I don't think George has a choice
Oh I don't know, I have seen some rather large skeet vests, in fact I own one  !     At this time of year, I would not even think of going out without my vest and just wearing one of them pouch things, I shudder at the thought  !

Uh?  My pouch has two separate areas but I usually keep lenses, cloth, tiny piece of towel, fags, lighter, sometimes a snack in one part and my cartridges in the other.
If you get along to your local 'Tartan shop'  you can even get hairy ones too  !

I did once try wearing 2 of the darned things for a 100 bird Sporting shoot over 15 stands, which involved a lot of walking and the car park was miles away. I loaded up both pouches with around 125 cartridges (just to be on the safe side), I ended up walking like Billy Connolly doing his incontinence trousers sketch  !

The mesh-back skeet vests are very good, also handy if you shoot Fitasc, permanent line . i found a pouch thing a pain, as its heavy with 100+ shells, so a skeet vest with 35 or so is perfect, the rest in a small soft canvas carry case.  which is easy to put down .

oh, and George  has a skeet vest, very tatty it is too, but it fits !

what can I say. I like a good beating, preferably in tweed

I suppose that I should expect comments like that at a limey forum

Ha.....I knew it!!!  You're not into this game shooting stuff for the same sort of sport as most of the others!............Mmmm.........or are you???
OK - there's a question I'm sure I don't want to know the answer

If a vest is good enough for Giovanni Pellielo it is certainly good enough for me

Salop Sniper they are about £46.  We got ours from Medway USA but there is now a Medway UK.

Some of the Skeet vests (i.e a Musto) have a pocket in the shoulder to take one of those high-tech shock-load spreading pads, i.e. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Browning-Reactar-Recoil-Reducer-Pad/dp/B004KLXL4W

Joking aside (do they make vests in GD's size??) a good vest will offer a snag-free surface to consistently mount the gun against which is important, especially when one is learning.
i have a 3xl one here i bought in error...it would fit George.

Also Castellani pouches are an absolute steal!

I wear a skeet vest or Musto clay jacket because they allow equal weight of shells and crucially protect your shirt from getting bruised and dirty, they also feel familiar from week to week which you wouldn't really be able to get with pouches unless you wear the same top each time ?!

Guess I should have made a poll.
