Yep - echoing much of what has been said - good move with good benefits.

If you want to get into the running of the sports governing body, then that's up to you - but a quick trawl through threads here will show you how much fun that can and can't be.

I am from a raf background and was taught never to volunteer for anything :)

You can't shoot clays seriously without being a member.

Don't listen to the whining duffers who say you'll regret it. What could you possibly regret, other than paying the membership fee? Some people just like to bleat and whine about anything. Gimps...

If you're not interested in the politics, just get on and enjoy your shooting. It will have next to no effect on you anyway. There's a constant load of backbiting, bitching and nonsense going on in the background, which is always made to sound desperately important, but it's just a load of wind and pomposity.

Very well said.

Nah it isn't ....it's crap.

You'll change your tune when the poster comes out with me in a mankini and a necklace made of Kent Velocity cartridges.... :aww:

I wouldn't say don't join. After all, if you want to shoot competition you have to. I would encourage you though to take an interest in the running of the organisation and the politics of the sport. You don't have to play an active role in the sports governance but expressing an opinion rather than ignoring the politics helps keep the the decision makers feet on the ground. After all, it's your money they're spending.

Can I order it now please ........if you use Golden Trap???

Onto my second year registered sporting and had a great albeit expensive time ! The cpsa membership fee pails into insignificance when you add up the costs of everything else ! And I've met some characters in my travels.

Alternative clay shooting up and running in ROI and they accept CPSA insurance which makes joining the CPSA an attractive proposition for ROI based clay shooters who have fallen foul of the ICPSA or who no longer wish to support ICPSA.

The insurance is top class and the magazine is good.
