Doctor charged me £15.00 for counter signature, but forms all done and in the post. Now to wait and see what happens and get myself a cabinet. Lots of 2nd hand ones on eBay :)

£15 !!!!!!!!!!! Bloody hell, where is your quack? Harley Street? Mind you, by the time you get your ticket the £15 will only be worth a tenner! :D

That's a damn cheek IMHO.

They no longer do call outs, don't work on Saturdays and had a huge pay rise a few years ago and now want to charge for this

I've always been pleased to do passports and these and FAC's for free for anyone that I have known for long enough.

Same here Robert, I have never attempted to charge to do passports, shotgun certs or whatever. It's not as though it takes a long time for them to do it.

Used to be a useful earner for some doctors getting cash from undertakers for death certificates if I remember right until HMRC found out and started doing in-depth enquries on them and imposing penalties and interest for non-disclosure of income!

Funny that, his secretary didn't offer me a receipt. I think I will write in and ask for one.

Hope your wait is not as long as mine was. Licence application sent 18 April 2012, licence received 23 October 2012!

My next door neighbour signed my mine and no problems, also signed my son's passport.

Doesn't have to be a doctor or similar, they just state that as an example
Thats right, I asked my FLO what was meant in the application notes by 'someone of good standing' - he said basically anyone who doesnt have a criminal record.

My mates doctor charged him £30 and took 2 weeks to do it.

Yes we have recently covered this but to clarify and concur with previous posters. Counter signatory does not need to be a professional however it is preferable, anyone who could be classed as respectable and with no criminal record is acceptable. I have signed certs off no problem i am in business and have had various security checks Incl CRB due to some sensitive sites that i work on, so that prob helped.

Therefore someone in there wisdom deemed i was respectable, :)

When I recently applied for my licence my Dr wouldn't sign as he stated that because I gave the police the OK to check my medical records it put him in an awkward position.

I just got a friend who's a teacher to sign and all went well
