Reading the responses to the orginal question encapsulates all that's dangerous with internet discussion boards.
There is only one answer and it's this...
Contact your firearms licensing department by email, ask them your question and request that they respond IN WRITING. Once you have that response follow it to the letter.
That way you'll not find yourself in trouble when things go wrong (as they sometimes do). Advice from someone on the internet whom you probably don't know, however well intentioned, won't cut it i'm afraid.

Well we had the FAO today for Tony's renewal so I asked if his office had given me the wrong advice and basically they had. He said there were too many planktons there who are not police officers. Anyway he's made a note and we have just to write on my cert gifted guns and email the police.
